Frank Sutton article
A friend sent me the link below about the early years that Frank Sutton lived in East Nashville. He played Sgt. Carter in TAGS Eps 107 Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. as well as the TV Show of the same name. http://nashvillehistory.blogspot.com/2017/04/frank-sutton-east-nashville.html Jeff ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/
Dinner Party in Mayberry
OK friends, here is something to think about. You have just moved to Mayberry and you want to host a little dinner part to get to know some folks better. You are going to invite 6 people for dinner. Who would you invite? What would you serve for dinner? What would your entertainment be? What time would you end your party? -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.themayberryguru.com www.mayberryreflections.com ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/
Nurse Mary
Yep, this brings into my mind a question I have had for years, even decades now I reckon. Were the two "Nurse Marys" supposed to be the same people? I have always maintained they were not. Although they were in episodes that were shown close together. Any thoughts on this? My mind has been preying on it. Asa Breeney M.B.S.G. >>> Absolutely correct. Nurse Mary Simpson was played by Julie Adams and >>> Sue Ann Langdon. And that was the only 2 times she appeared on the show. Umm, no, that is not absolutely correct. For one thing, it's Sue ANE, not Ann, and for another it's not necessarily the same character. Sue Ane's character is never called Mary Simpson, she's simply Mary. There are lots of nurses in town; others include Peggy McMillan, Irene Fairchild, and Nurse Oakley. And since a couple of folks have mentioned Fletch, there were multiple characters who were all called Fletch. There were Fletch Dilbeck, Fletcher Roberts, and Tate Fletcher. Goober's Contest
Every time the TAGS episode "Goober's Contest" rolls around in my nightly viewing schedule, I am thanking Howard McNear for his courage and tenacity in portraying his beloved character Floyd the Barber right up through the final decline of his health. A dedicated and brilliant comedic actor---and what a trooper! Hail to Thee, Floyd of Mayberry!!! Eric Swolgaard Sacramento, CA ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/
Howard McNear on Burns & Allen
I've been enjoying watching "The George Burns & Gracie Allen Show" every weekday morning on Antenna TV. Howard McNear (our lovable Floyd) played Cuthbert Jantzen, the Burns' plumber who was a widower with 4 college age daughters. Sort of a role reversal for Floyd, playing opposite ditzy Gracie and trying to keep track of her train of thought. It's recorded that he appeared in 10 episodes between 1953-1958, but it seems like more. Other TAGS alumni appearing are Doris Packer (Mrs. Wiley), Herb Vigran (Floyd's Bookie/Barber), Dan Tobin (Gentleman Dan Caldwell), William Schallert (Quiet Sam), Mabel Albertson (Mrs. Sprague), even Will Wright was in 3 episodes. I'm sure there were many more, too many to list. In it's 1950-1958 run I think every character actor that ever lived at the time appeared on this show. Sue Ane
I noticed that Paul Mulik caught the error in Sue Ane Langdon's name. As Emma Watson would say "Could be there's more than meets the eye." Maybe ol' Paul has a crush on the prettiest gal to ever grace a Mayberry episode dan > ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

Watch a Petticoat Junction episode today, "The Curse of Chester W. Farnsworth". Noticed 2 alumni: Hal Smith (Otis) as a traveling salesman, and Frank Ferguson (Mr. Foley) as Dr. Stuart Brian ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/
