aarp article

2010-07-18 Thread Barbara Mylott
Hi to everyone - hope everyone's having a great summer.
Didn't notice that this has been mentioned by anyone so I thought I would.
There's an article in this months aarp magazine (publication for retirees)
about
TAGS 50th. anniversary. The article is also on their site - arrp.org/andy with
a
little more said than the magazine - and all said very nicely too. There were
some facts mentioned that I didn't know - as well as a quiz. By the way, if you
go to the site you have to type in Andy's name in the search box as it's not
mentioned otherwise (strange!!). Hope everyone gets to check it out.
There's a fancy anniversary shirt I found in one of my catalogs I'm forever
getting in the mail but forgot the name. I'll check back on that one.

 Best to all.

Bugged

2010-06-07 Thread Barbara Mylott
Hey to all..hope everyone had a good holiday.
I was watching a show the other day when I was annoyed by a bug that just
wouldn't go home. As I was trying to sh him away the thought came to me
that I've never seen a bug in Mayberry. I remember someone writing in that
they've never seen a cat there either. There's not much a bug can do for the
show but it's an interesting concept that makes Mayberry even more perfect. Has
anyone ever seen a bugged show written into the theme like sittn' on the porch
catching fireflies?
Best to you and yours

'Wholesome' TVLand!

2009-07-03 Thread Barbara Mylott
First - hope everyone is having a  great Mayberry 4th. I can just see the
Mayberry band marching down Main St. while sadly out of tune and Barney yelling
to everyone to step back. What I'd give to be there!
Just wanted to say I'm, in a way, happy to see I'm not the only one seeing
less and less wloesomeness in T.V. Land. I've envisioned such shows as Life of
Riley, Father Knows Best or Make Room for Daddy. I've now resorted to
purchasing these, and others, rather than wait for T.V.Land to air such
programs. As a matter of fact, I hardly watch the station anymore. But TAGS is
my 'reality' and so I stay true to it, no matter where it can be found.

Aunt Bea before TAGS

2009-01-26 Thread Barbara Mylott
Hi to all,
Hope everyone had a great Mayberry Xmas and many more to come.
About a month or so ago I asked everyone if anyone had information on Andy in
a Lucy Show segment and due to a great response I was able to locate the exact
episode. As I was ordering the segment from an oldies catalog I noticed tapes
of the old Eve Arden Show from the 50's. It listed the regulars and one of them
was Francis Bov (can't even begin to spell it right). Does anyone know if this
is our Aunt Bea (not even sure if that's spelled right!!).
Thanks for any help there might be. My best to all.

Lucy

2008-11-17 Thread Barbara Mylott
 Hey to everyone -

It's been a while since I've made any written contribution here but there's
something layn' on my mind. I was watching a segment of Pioneers of T.V. last
night and there was a segment on 'I Love Lucy' and in it Andy was talking about
how he had worked with her on the show. I was wondering if anybody knows which
episode Andy appeared in on 'I Love Lucy'. I'd love to see it. Thanks for any
information.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

Andy's smoking

2008-04-21 Thread Barbara Mylott
There was a question about how many times Andy lit up
a cigarette and I couldn't say but there is something
I noticed when Andy lit up - there was never any more
than 2 puffs taken when the cigarette was put out.
Guess he didn't have to worry too much about the
hazards of smoking.
Best to you and yours,
Barb

Flashbacks

2008-03-20 Thread Barbara Mylott
In reference to the message of today about day ja vue
(or flashback - it's easier to spell) I have them all
the time. My flashbacks aren't repeated scenes from
different TAGS episodes but everyday things I do. This
is such as tossing a tomatoe to my son and having a
flashback of Barney tossing one to Otis or finding a
small cave and having a flashback to the cave rescue
of Barney's. Do you think I'm watching too much TAGS?!
Best to All

Tipping hat

2008-02-13 Thread Barbara Mylott
I just noticed the other day that every time Barney wears his deputy hat he
tips it to the right. It must have been the style then.

TV Guides Best Episodes

2007-12-13 Thread Barbara Mylott
I noticed the comment about the 'Opie the Birdman'
eposide and have to say I love it too. Just wanted to
add, so we can pop our Mayberry pride buttons, that
about 3 years ago T.V.Guide had a special - T.V.G's
Top 50 Episodes in t.v. History and 'Birdman' came in
#16. They also had a show on about top t.v.
personalities and Barney was #9. Also, a while back
someone had a show about the best shows on t.v. (ever)
and our TAGS came in #5 I believe.
BTW, when Aunt Bee made a reference to the wire
(pppttt) they should use on Barney she was at the
kitchen table while Andy put her groceries away.
Hope everyone is having a Mayberry Xmas.

Talk'n Dilliards

2007-11-23 Thread Barbara Mylott
Hey to everyone and hope it was a great Thanksgiving
for all.
Just wanted to ask - I recently found the greatest
cookbook at the library - Aunt Bee's Mayberry Cooking
- and it stated that one of the Dilliard boy's
actually spoke to Aunt Bee. I keep looking but I've
never seen that happen. Has anyone seen that or know
which show that's in?
Thanks

Barney's allofactory glands.

2007-04-23 Thread Barbara Mylott
In defense of Barney and his inability to smell the 'white lightening' I've
tried the stuff once myself. Once and only once. It looks just like water and
it had no order like regular alcohol. Like barney I took a few good gulps not
having been told of it's potency or even what it was. About 5 or 10 seconds
later it hit me like a dirty elephant, just like it did for barney. I haven't
had it since (about 20 years ago) and never will. But he should have detected
the liqueur in the water cooler.
I agree about the way t.v. Land is pulling away from the wholesome shows of
the past. There are so many I don't understand why they can't stay with the
program, figuratively speaking.
And Mayberry wouldn't have a candle light ceremony because those things
don't happen in Mayberry (VT massacre).

2006-08-29 Thread Barbara Mylott
Hey to everyone,
I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for info on finding some TAGS tapes.
Like I mentioned I'm new here and didn't realize there's a Weaver's Dept.
store. I've been so rushed applying for so many jobs that I've been skimming
almost everything else on the computer. I love Weaver's and will be getting my
tapes there. Hopefully when things slow down a little I can enjoy the site more
- I already enjoy the folks.
  Thanks again -

Finding tapes or cd's.

2006-08-25 Thread Barbara Mylott
Hey to everyone.
I was wondering, being fairly new here, if someone could tell me where I can
get some tapes or cd's on TAGS, preferably the black and white episodes. I've
been to several stores and web sites but haven't had any luck. I've just moved
to Ohio and until I can get my own place (staying with son) I don't have cable
and miss Andy and Barney, etc. so much. Any help is apprreciated.
  Best to you and yours.
