Re: WBMUTBB Digest, Vol 17, Issue 86
We see Andy sign his name with the invisible ink in front of Frisco ... and Floyd signs as a witness to Otis falling in the jail. Those are two that quickly come to mind, but both are right handed. Jason at the hotel. ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

Have the Mayberry Days Trivia questions been posted online yet? I know I've seen them from past years, but I can't remember where I went to get them. Thanks Jason at the Hotel ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

Which episode contains the scene where Barney and Andy sing There is a Fountain? I just can't think of it right now. I know there are other episodes that contain sacred hymns but I really like that one. Thanks. Matt I believe it is The Case of the Punch in the Nose. Andy and Barney are going through Old dead files where this thing between Floyd and old man Foley came out. Sam, I not only use that phrase several times a week to my almost 12 year old son ... but also Show the teacher you got some smarts now. My son and I watch several episodes together each day. It's fun to hear him say the lines just before the show does. He's catching on. Also have a 20 year old son that I texted to in college with sayings from the show and we try and guess which episodes they come from. Great fun. I am proud ... I am so proud. Mirror Images
Message: 2 Date: Tue, 06 Nov 2012 14:37:27 -0600 From: Curt Granger cu...@blueniteproductions.com While watching a very familiar TAGS episode yesterday I spotted a short, 3 second clip where the film had been reversed, or flipped if you will. I noticed it first by observing that something just didn't look accurate with the Mayberry landscape, and upon further (DVD) review, found concrete evidence that the film had actually been flipped to it's mirror-image side, during editing I'm sure. The first trained noticer to identify the episode and evidence wins a Lucky Peppermint with a green center. :-) Curt Birmingham, AL Curt, I mentioned the same thing several months back on the digest but didn't get any response. I noticed at least four such mirror images or reverse projections. 1. When Opie is in the court house talking to Andy about his allowance. It is noticable from the background that the gun rack is on the right and the file cabinet is on the left. Reverse of what it should be. 2. When Opie gets a new bike for getting all A's and it's hidden behind the couch ... When Opie is looking at it, the bell on the handle bars and the fire place mantle are in reverse. 3. When Andy is talking to Opie about not coming to the court house because of the evil influence, Andy's hair is parted on the opposite side of his head. 4. When Ben Weaver approaches Andy, Barney, and Burt the Merchant of Mayberry on the sidewalk, it's made to look like he approaches them from the viewers right ... but the shot has the theater in the background which should be to the viewers left. Smoking
The only episode I remember where Barney smoked was when he was locked in the cell in the Citizen Arrest episode. Does anyone else remember any other time that Barney smoked? The reason I asked this question is that I was just watching the Loaded Goat episode. Barney enters the dynamite shack and it is too dark to see inside the shack. So Barney lights a cigarette lighter to see better. Why would a person who almost never smokes be carrying a cigarette lighter? But if you look at Barney real close when he comes out of the shack in the episode you can see the outline of a pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket\Orville Hendricks - The Butter and Egg Man. I caught Evan smoking when he was a teenager. After I got through with him he was smoking out the other end. Barney has a cigar in Club Men but never smokes it. Andy takes a cigar from J. Howard Jackson because Barney likes to smoke one when he's feeling special sporty. Barney has a pipe when undercover at the hotel in the gold truck episode. I always assumed that Barney was a casual smoker on TAGS ... only on special occasions. But I too can't remember Barney actually smoking on screen at any other time. A true Mayberry Moment
Friends of TAGS, I had to write and let you know of a true Mayberry Moment that my daughter had. She is currently in China preparing to teach English in Mongolia. She went to a Chineese resturant last night and pointed to a picture of what looked to her like sweet and sour chicken (I'll have that). When her meal came, she didn't know what it was, but finally figured out there were little cooked frogs all through it (bones, skeletons and all). I said to her ... you were just like Barney when he and Andy went to the big city and Barney didn't want to look like a plain hick (there are worse things than being a plain hick ... like being a hungry one!) She said That's exactly what it was like. We had a good laugh over skype together. At least she learned a new word! No Facilities indeed
Orville, I've often wondered the same thing myself about facilities at the court house. I watched Barney and the Choir today during lunch and once again was struck in the opening scene when Aunt Bee brings in lunch and Barney says I'll go wash up or something to that effect, and then proceeds into the back room (if this back room could talk it would say it was nothing but a back room.) I've never noticed any plumbing in the court house ... they even have a water cooler/crock, which I assume is where they got the water for coffee, but how/when did they fill it? Curious, Curious. By the way Emmet, I always assumed that the gun rack was unlocked each morning, then relocked at night. Barney simply put the gun back in the rack during the day while it was unlocked. RE: WBMUTBB Digest, Vol 13, Issue 11
Two of my favorite quotes from TAGS Andy to Opie: You say that and then Aunt Bee gets stuck. Gomer to Andy: If she's in that position, she's gonna run on ya Hey, Mayberry friends. Things have been kinda' quiet on the digest lately so here's something we haven't done in a while. Favorite Quotes. Andy: 'Barney, have you been?you have!' Barney: 'Rule #1, Obey all rules.' Opie: 'Just what can you do with a grown woman?' Aunt Bee: 'I stay in the house too much.' Gomer: 'Water and air's free, now gas, we make a charge for that.' Floyd: 'You gotta' go to Mt. Pilot to get a good suit.' Goober: 'Ain't you gotta' jack?' Howard: 'I'll have to ask Mother.' Helen: 'What are you, some kind of Svengali?' Ellie: 'Women are just stupid little fools.' Otis: 'Food and water for my men and horses.' Skippy: 'Hi, Bernie.' Daphne: 'Hello doll.' (a classic) Clara: 'Maybe a little more allspice.' Big Maude: 'She's a convicted husband beater.' Leonora Poltice: 'I've just given you an A in breathing.' Briscoe: 'Justa' bed and a bible.' I could go on and on. If you're a TAGS fan, it's hard to pick a favorite quote, favorite episode, favorite character. They're all so good. When you read these, let your mind go back to that scene. Great stuff. My favorite scene: Barney reciting the Preamble. So, so funny. If you like, share yours. The new iMayberry Community Page is great. Thanks, Allan for all you do for us Mayberry 'nuts'. Andy talking about his Pa
Can anyone guess the show where Andy mentions his father or what story he tells about his father? Here is a hint: It involves a weapon. Orville Hendricks - Selling Butter and Eggs. Evan talks about me all the time. Some day I am going to wash out his mouth with soap. I'm not sure what Andy says in relation to his faither and a weapon, but he also mentions his pa in Keeper of the Flame at the very end of the episode when he is explaining to Opie about changing over to a flash light instead of a candle ... He indicated real good ... right back there! Jason at the Hotel ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
RE: WBMUTBB Digest, Vol 12, Issue 346
Caught a very small mistake on TAGS while watching the Christmas show the other day. The whole show takes place on Christmas day. In one scene Andy and Ben Weaver are outside in front of the barbershop. And Floyd's barber pole is spinning. Now you know that Floyd would not be open on Christmas day. Just a tiny mistake. Orville Hendricks - Peddling Butter and Eggs in Mt. Pilot. I never make mistakes. I thought I made a mistake one time, but I was wrong. Orville/David, If I'm not mistaken the Christmas Story episode took place on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day. Barney mentions at one point but tomorrow's Christmas and later Ellie remarks It's Christmas Eve. Check it out - maybe this will be your second mistake. WBMUTBB Digest
Friends of WBMUTBB, Over the last several weeks of watching TAGS I began to notice how many times the show used what I call mirror shots or reverse angle. Where for reasons that baffle me, the scene, or parts of the scene, are reversed ... backwards. I wonder if it was done on purpose or by mistake. For example: 1. Do you know of any others. Any thoughts as to why this happened? Jason at the Hotel ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

We've all seen Opie his friends play football, kick cans, rollerskate, etc. There are three fun things I have never seen or heard mentioned, which were quite in vogue during my childhood.Does anyone recall a Mayberry kid shootin' marbles, playing with a yo-yo,or trying to finesse a hoola-hoop? Just seems like one of these activities would have been scripted into some of the episodes.Kinda' takes you back a few years, doesn't it? Isn't Opie playing marbles on the floor of the living room when Andy returns from getting stood up by Miss Peggy ... wouldn't you know his name would be Don? The fouth prank on Barney by Andy would have to be with Aunt Bee's lip stick outside the market before Bert shows up with his suit case of merchandise. Jason at the Hotel ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

This past week on Thursday evening I had the time of my life. While at Church camp, during a Talent Show, my almost 10 year old son and I sang The Andy Griffith Show song that was written and performed by Rodney Dillard. It was a great hit and many commented about loving TAGS. We wore our matching 50th Anniversary TAGS shirts we got at Mayberry Days last year.
