Ted Koppel Mt. Airy segment
I just watched the video about Mayberry and Mt. Airy and parts of it were good. However for the most part it was way too political. Ted Koppel tried to make this a hit piece on conservatives. That part was really disgusting. I am glad the people on the trolley car stood up to him and let their beliefs be made known. I always knew Koppel was far leftist so it did not surprise at all with what he tried to do. He should have left politics out of it. Mt. Saw Aneta Corsaut(Helen Crump)on TCM last night in The Blob with Steve McQueen. What was interesting was Ben Mankiewicz closing comments after the movie where he said Corsaut was best known as playing Helen Crump, " the prettiest girl in Mayberry. " I don't think so. This shows how little Mankiewicz actually knows about the TAGS other than the names of some of the stars. My top 5 TAGS moments that get to me
Here are my top 5 moments from the show that make me tear up a little or get me a little emotional. 1.Andy on Trial-When Barney defends Andy by saying "This is a small town." 2.The Song Festers-When Gomer sees Barney softly singing the song inside the vacant . performance room. 3. Barney and the Cave Rescue-When Thelma Lou and Helen say that Barney is quite a guy after he becomes the hero in the rescue. 4.Man in a Hurry-(my favorite episode by the way)-when Malcolm Tucker starts to leave after his car is fixed and he looks at the faces of all those that are saying goodbye. Also the end shot of him falling asleep with the peeled apple core in his hand. 5. Floyd the Gay Deceiver-When Floyd watches the lady drive away and admires her so much. Andy in turn sees how much this means to Floyd.
