Hey, Mayberry friends. Recently, on The Alfred Hitchcock Hour (on the Suspense Network), I spotted Robert Emhart, AKA Malcolm Tucker and also the Foster Furniture Polish owner, playing a small town business tycoon. His chauffer (and muscle) was our own Goober, George Lindsey. It's hard to picture 'Goob' as a tough guy. Anyway, maybe Mr. Tucker/Foster's businesses on TAGS just didn't prosper and he found his fortune in a smaller town. We all know it's very competitive in a big city like Charlotte. Because 'Alfred Hitchcock' and TAGS were filmed during the same years, you can spot several TAGS alumni on his episodes.(James Best comes to mind also).
Also, earlier, on the same network, was a Sherlock Holmes movie titled "Sherlock Holmes and the Woman in Green" (1945). In a quiet moment in his office apartment, Sherlock picked up his trusty violin and began playing "Welcome, Sweet Springtime". (Good 'ol 14-A). I was clutched, almost to tears! Even though I not a 'trained noticer', tidbits like these make a TAGS fan get a little excited. I love it!
