Tris:

on (release) {
    getURL("myfile.ext");
}

should do the trick. Just change "myfile.ext" to whatever you're trying to
open. This will look for files at the same level in a folder structure as
the Flash movie (i.e. CD root as you've noted at the beginning).

P.S. Who said Flash was supposed to make life easier? I've always found it
to be a pain in the arse for the little things...
