[web2py] Why admin|examples|welcome in hgignore?

I see this line in .hgignore:

^applications/(?!(admin|examples|welcome|__init__)).*$

So I'm wondering how I get updates to those applications? Is it safe to 
change that to this?

^applications/(?!(__init__)).*$
