I'm about to update the src code on a live site hosted by webfaction. I'm
assuming that web2py server must be stopped and restarted.
Web2py is running from the original installation script and has never had
to be shutdown before. I've not gone through this on a live site
performing a manual

Web2py is running from the original installation script and has
True enough - but I'm not running a linux box and bringing up web2py from
cmd line is straightforward. Shutting down web2py on a windows box
normally hangs. On linux $: kill is issued. However, since it's a
live server - one that is not under my control (for darn good reason), I'm
