thanks for that kind offer. However, for achieving a real redundancy,
what we need would be access to servers that are completely under our

system plus our server components). Given the high load the machines
produce, a virtual machine might not be sufficient.

We are currently internally drafting a document on load balancing and

it is not inaccessible, as you get

the requested page could not be found.

You neither did create a page with URL-segment home nor did you set
use as homepage for domain on any page and neither did you create
your own 404 page (that would then display a nicer 404 page)

the URL-segment you used for your page is a non-telling page-1215
http://lo.libreoffice.org/page-1215

So rename that to home on the metadata tab, or when you don't want
to use lo.libreoffice.org/home for that page, use any other label, and
then enter lo.libreoffice.org into the entry box next to use as
homepage for domain on the behaviour tab.

To get a nicer error page, create a page of type error-page, for error
code 404. This will then show a styled page, and that will show your
menu-bar, see
http://www.libreoffice.org/page-does-not-exist for example.

Re: [libreoffice-website] offsite website backup

2011-08-02 Thread Jonathan Aquilina

Florian that would be interesting read.

I work at a data center and im not sure what we could offer a non profit
organization price wise if you want something in another country for
redundancy. I have an ubuntu 10.04 vps from here and its very high
performing considering i have my business website as well as an audio
stream and 2 other sites on it.

Would you guys consider paying for a vps that you would have full
control over. If so what specs would you want in a vps? a fully
dedicated colocated server would be too costly as we charge per kwH of
electricity.

Thx for informing, the user is blocked.

We have not much spam as in the earlier stages of the wiki. The bots
can't solve the captcha and the real person spammers are usually
identified in very short timeframes, therefore don't come back.

@ all: I need help to publish changes on the LibO main page. Please see

Na, not help, you just don't want to be blamed if something goes wrong
:-P - but no reason to be afraid, see below.

 []
So, I've added the banners to the website home page and saved the
changes - but did not publish them yet. Although I do have the rights to
do so, it would be great if anybody could check this in Silverstripe and
publish the changes. These are my first steps with Silverstripe and I
don't want to screw up the main page ;-) Thanks in advance!!!

The links below, the show published and draft are the authority
here. If you're unsure whether the changes in the CMS end up well on
the published site, just use the draft link and have a look yourself.
When you publish the page the user will see the same thing.

 Two more comments:
      * I had to adapt the size of one of the graphics (from 440px to
400px) because the page is asymmetrical. I did not notice that
        before ...

Well, if you adapted it already, nothing to do for others - yay :-)

      * I found a small alternative text error for one of the graphics
        (should be resolved)

sould be in like I think I have fixed it or someone should fix it?
If the latter - what exactly needs fixing?

      * The donations page is still called challenge... - shouldn't we
        adapt this?

would need another dns-entry, but apart from that silverstripe would
be ready to deal with it.

[...] I think the original idea of Bernhard to collect all agreed
upon artwork in one place might be helpful here as well.

Do you want a gallery on the www.libreoffice.org site, or do you
prefer the wiki?

ciao

To me it's some bug in silverstripe... it happens in the italian section too

The only way to fix it permanently is to specify the link without using the

Hope it's correct...
