While Stable gets the right message in a comparison with Fresh, the second message it sends might indeed be that if this one's stable the other one is not. I∕we welcome other terms, by the way. I thought about mature I completely agree with Charles in that identifying our second option for download as LibreOffice Stable in that stable does indeed seem to signify our first choice as being unstable. LibreOffice Mature does seem to have a nice ring to it, plus it does convey the obvious fact of that particular version's state at which it finds itself. BTW ... LibreOffice Fresh is, IMO, an excellent pick in name, to the point where I would suggest it is easily marketable as a possible brand name if we wanted to do so; let's not change that particular name. [libreoffice-website] Re: Download-Page rework - please test provide translations
Hi Christian, Thanks for doing this, the links are definitely a lot more functional! I like these!!! The biggest problem that I can see from the layout it that of usability; IMO it would be better to offer the choice of changes below the download buttons. Here is a mockup I worked out[1]. Sorry it is not all that accurate with the spacing, but I think it will illustrate what I mean. In my mockup, the user is * presented by the default download determined by her/his browser, * then, below there are the various options for changes. It would be nice if the Languages choice was done in a roll-down menu rather than taking the user to another page. * finally the choice to download the cd's or code (I would remove this line if the Packages section at the bottom of the page lists these. There is no need to mention it twice on the same page.) IMO, this layout follows what a user would expect as the logical steps to downloading when she/he lands on that page. If you cannot detect, are not sure you detected right, or you detect something that does not use deb or rpm. You default to select your pacakge. Also the source package in tar.gz need to be an option. Gentoo and slackware users for example will probably want that choice. If you are worried about people that don't know. Put a small link above the box. I need help selecting the right package! Set the link to display a box on hover. If you are using Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Linux Mint, Xandros, etc. You should try the .deb package If you are using Red hat, CentOS, Fedora, Suse, OpenSuse, Mandriva etc. You should try the .deb package If you are using Gentoo, Mandrake or another distribute you may want to use the source package. (People usually at least know which distro they have. It's usually pretty clear because of the big bright logo at boot. :) ) This can be followed by the language selection box. Then by 2 checkboxes. -64bit -torrent Seb. I also find that many do not know whether 64 or 32 bit. Re: [libreoffice-website] Re: Download page changed?
Hi, :-) I made some pages that reproduce some of the content on the live site... remember that pages can be moved around via drag and drop, and that content can be copied and pasted into other pages... I didn't delete anyone's pages, just unpublished them to experiment with what the result looked like (it's a simple button click to put your pages back online, and this is a *test* site not a live one)... but nobody seems to be very active about this, so I jumped in... I was hoping we'd manage to get this thing live within the next few days... I'm happy to see that someone is actually paying attention... I'm on the TDF IRC if you want to chat David Nelson -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to website+h...@libreoffice.org List archive: http://www.libreoffice.org/lists/website/ *** All posts to this list are publicly archived for eternity ***

Hi David, Am 06.12.2010 22:06, schrieb David Nelson: I made some pages that reproduce some of the content on the live site... Sorry, but I don´t understand what you are doing. Are you trying to replicate www.documentfoundation.org at www.test.libreoffice.org? Does this make any sense? The two domains have different focus, different audience and thus they will have different content. documentfoundation.org is about the foundation. libreoffice.org is about the product. There was already some basic structure on www.test.libreoffice.org for product presentation, support and so on. I would recommend to restore something like that.
