[libreoffice-website] Spam on Redmine

2018-11-16 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hi,

we seem to get a bit spam on Redmine, similar to the wiki. I wonder if
we should add some further check for account creation, e.g. a Captcha or
manual approval?

Thoughts? :-)

Thanks,
Florian

we have seen one hijacked account on the website list spamming, seems
(just checked the archives) this is the same one. Thanks for reporting!

I have unsubscribed the user from the list, so he can't post anymore.

It is not really much and I think that these pages came from real
persons and not through bots. Bots are faster in creating the pages
after registration.

I am not scared at the moment. ;-)

Is it possible for a regular member of the wiki delete a page rather
than remove the content?

Also, having not had admin experience with mediawiki, is it possible
to give people within the website team admin rights?
Does anyone know how we go about doing that, and who are the current
admin of the wiki?

For those who want to work on the wiki admin yes, for the other one this
is not necessary imho. Florian is managing rights here.

Hi Sophie

Thanks - I figured you (or someone) might be doing that, because I don't
see that much. It's amazing isn't it

The micro-blog I setup, same deal, not daily but as it goes along and
gets more active so do the spammer's. I would be surprised if the TDF
blog is not getting some now.

IMO You really ought to find a second person to help with that, maybe in
a time zone with an 8+ hour shift.

From my experience the key seems to be slapping them down quickly, which
means before any search engine can pick up their links, 'they' seem to
know which sites move quickly enough and which do not and start to
concentrate on the ones that don't.

Clayton at OO.o was battling with them on the wiki constantly also - he
always needed to bring someone else in to help IMO cause if you get them
off before the links ae crawled they will start to go away..well, maybe
the is just wishful hoping.

Maybe a SPAM template - so that anyone could add that (this close to the
way the forum does it) and let people know about it. That way the
person(s) that will actually do the deletes can just do a quick search
for the SPAM flag, makes their life easier I think.

Thanks again

Drew

Hi David

Can't agree with that. You end up blocking many other people (almost
always) then just the poster - banning an ip address is ONLY acceptable
in the most dire of circumstances, IMO of course.
