Ah, got it. This all sounds very promising !!
I'll do a WeeWX install on the same box (after doing a backup of WView data
and config just in case) after reading your references.
Thanks for the encouragement, Tom ... greatly appreciated !! Time to get
started reading :)

Hello, Rod.
Not surprisingly, I was also a long-time wview user before starting weewx.
Mark Teel (the author of wview) was not a part of weewx, although, as you
note, many of his design decisions influenced me.
Because weewx uses the same schema as wview, moving over is a simple
matter. Take a
I've been a WView weather display program user since about 2010, and while
a bit dated looking UI-wise, found it sufficient for my needs. Its
installed on an AMD MB-based computer, with 240GB SSD, and running under
Debian Linux. Its connected to my Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station via
Anyone tried the f2fs filesystem. Suppose to be flash friendly... ?
Would like some feedback on this one.

You've probably figured this out already, but you get that error when you
pass in a string instead of a number. Use int(float(pairs[1])) instead.

Thanks Tom. I did end up using leafWet2, and there are minor issues with
ints verses floats in what weewx
gets sent, but it all seems good at this point. Nope this was my fault
too... :^)
File "/home/weewx/bin/user/aclogger.py", line 405, in decode_data
pkt[pairs[0]] = int(pairs[1])
For how long do you NEED the database to store records every minute?? Most
people manage with an archive record every 5 minutes at most (and some only
every 30 minutes!)
How often do you look at your 'every minute' data - do you really need it??
The weewx meso extension builds a database
I am not understanding your question. What is "it?"
If you are uncomfortable using English, try asking your question in your
native language. We will figure it out.

I'm using linux, is it enough with the usb connector?

Interesting idea. Can a docker swarm work for a hardware device? I've
always thought of them as responding to HTTP requests.
I have not tried a thumb drive. My original intention was to try different
drive configurations, but I need the SD card to die first and free up the
instrument and RPi.
The Vantage Vue does not come with a connector. You must buy that
separately.
They offer three types: serial, USB, and ethernet. All are ridiculously
overpriced for what you get. The USB connector is the easiest to connect,
and recent versions have proven to be very reliable. You want part number
It may be getting big quickly, but so what?
All weewx queries are bounded in time, which is indexed, so search time for
say, "max temperature this week" is constant, no matter how big the
database gets.
Unless you are in the gigabyte range, sqlite can handle it just fine. Just
be sure to do
Hi guys!
If I buy a Davis Vantage Vue (sensors + console), how do I connect to a
normal linux pc? usb cable? ethernet cable?
thank you!
