With apologies if you have already done this but I would use the
Linux/Raspberry Pi OS FTP utility (sudo apt update / sudo apt install ftp if
ftp is not already installed) to get ftp working outside WeeWX and then edit
weewx.conf based on what I learned (outside WeeWX).

You of course are correct! Adding a USB dongle would also mean adding a USB
hub so a nice “small box with only Davis console connection” becomes more
grand. Not impossible but not something I want to do.

is Raspberry Pi OS “wlan0 carrier lost problem” (see

Even if I fix each problem as they arise, I’d like to have a “belts &
suspenders” backup solution.

set the archive
period of the Tempest systems to at least 120 seconds to allow all per archive
processing to complete in one period.
Bottom Line: I wouldn’t hesitate to use WeeWX on a Pi Zero W for a stand-alone
weather station.

I’m running a Tempest on WeeWX (with the Belchertown skin).
You merely need to edit the sensor map to specify the serial number of the
Tempest.

I intend to implement the workaround in my WeeWX extension such that a user
does not have to worry about about the technicalities but that code isn’t
written yet.

perhaps a
warning that memory usage can increase if the hooks are used without the
workaround (until the Cheetah generator is fixed).
Thanks for your time, attention and the Belchertown skin!

should be a way to
inject the ‘raw’ argument without having to edit ‘index.html.tmpl’. That is,
my code would generate both the outer and inner include files each cycle, with
the outer include file containing the ‘raw’ argument as you suggest.

I can live with modifying ‘index.html.tmpl’ but hope the underlying problem
gets fixed.
I’ve entered as ‘issue’ against Belchertown so that its author is aware, can
possibly provide a workaround in his code and/or “escalate” the issue to the
Cheetah folks.

All that will get you is an average of crap altitude!
Any agreement between GPS altitude and true elevation is merely a coincidence.

Altimeter settings (aka QNH) are referenced to mean sea level. It has nothing
to do with GPS altitude. If a properly set and calibrated barometric altimeter
agrees with a GPS it is just a coincidence, some might say a rare coincidence.
