Your are correct /dev/ttyUSB0 is indeed the USB to serial adaptor to the
Vantage Vue.
I followed your instructions to the letter and I now have a fully
functioning v5.0.2 or WeeWX.

Many thanks for the heads-up.
I used the WeeWX 5 guide to reinstall the key:
wget -qO - https://weewx.com/keys.html | \ sudo gpg --dearmor --output
/etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/weewx.gpg
I then initiated the upgrade which seemed to go well until the end!
