Now that acurite has ended the mybackyard platform and moved to the new
myacurite is weewx going to send to acurites new platform. I would love to see
that as a option in weewx.

Yeah, you are right tom! Now it's solved.
So the correlation with the switch off was just random.
It was my fault because the default editor of .conf files was Libre Office
and I thought that saving the file in txt format didn't change the encoding.
Now that I know I will remember that.

Yes, I'd already tried that but it doesn't like sudo.
weewx@weewx:~$ sudo wee_import
--import-config=/home/weewx/archive/csv-update.conf
sudo: wee_import: command not found
It finds wee_import no problem without sudo.

It is most likely a permissions problem, try prefixing your command with sudo,
