reconfiguring the database. I didn't understand from mwall's comments what
exactly was meant by "just extend the schema you already have the
observations".

Again, I don't own one of these, so I don't know the details, but I believe
that by default it always tries to contact weatherlink.
I don't think there is a setting on the console where you can switch off
this communication. I think you have to do it through a browser.

weatherlink database. But I will drive to the site later to collect the
serial and device ID and check if they indeed are registered at
weatherlink.com so we know.
