Re: [weewx-user] MQTT Connects/Disconnects every loop (?)

2020-10-29 Thread 'Andy Hudson-Smith' via weewx-user
Its not the weewx logs that are bothering me - its the mqtt logs,
connecting and disconnecting is filling them up - mqtt is something that is
made to remain connected to reduce load so I'm not sure it disconnects
after every loop?

It’s just the cheap waveshare 3.5 (which is actually really nice and the
touch control works wel) it will fit the adafruit screen as well though. I
meant to post in the dedicated screen post but failed to find it so just
followed up a previous post in WF

[weewx-user] MQTT - Min/Max values ?

2020-03-03 Thread 'Andy Hudson-Smith' via weewx-user

Just wondering if its possible to add Min/Max tags for the day to topics -
so Min / Max temperature etc.

It would mean i could use MQTT for all my outputs, rather than just the
current live ones.. i have had a look and cant work out if its possible,

Hope thats ok to ask,

Re: [weewx-user] Re: Does weewx output conditions as text?

2019-10-24 Thread 'Andy Hudson-Smith' via weewx-user
Thanks for the reply - i am used to using either Weather Display or Cumulus
of old and both of those put out current conditions in a text file, so i
kind of just assumed weewx would as well - so Partly Cloudy, Cloudy,
Overcast, Rain, Heavy Rain, Fog etc - based on solar, rainfall, humidity
etc.

No worries - although it would be a nice feature to have :) and it would be
a nice extension

2019-10-02 Thread 'Andy Hudson-Smith' via weewx-user
I am using Metrix WX and a Vantage Pro - i thought i would try to see if
weewx-wd gave the same result - ie to rule out the database which seems correct.

weewx-wd is working fine and i could not see any reason why the wee-wx realtime
was throwing out an odd figure just on outdoor temp.

My system is behind a work firewall so its not as easy to reach to debug as
normal but weewx-wd seems to be working..

its running ok so far. I will look into a longer term upgrade but glad the

just disable it until I can get to have a look at it in the next 2-3 weeks

Some good advice above about getting a machine to work reliably, the
only thing I would add is chose your archive interval carefully as that
also has an impact on stability when you start to add in a number of
extensions. A 5 minute archive period means there is 5 minutes between
report cycles so arguably WeeWX has around 5 minutes to get all of its
report processing completed, cut that down to 1 minute and WeeWX now only
has 1/5 the time. You don't want your reports taking longer to run than
your archive interval, that would be bad on many fronts. Some folks think
that having the shortest possible archive interval is essential, that may
be the case in some circumstances but there are other secondary effects
 that need to be kept

Thanks for the reply Vince - I was not sure what to search for but yep thinking
about a quick search for database locked before posting would have been wise.

Noted the use of skins and mqtt on a pi, i kind of assumed it was up to the
job, i do like the weewx system so may well move up to a more useful machine -
coming from Windows into this world means i know little beyond Dells and Win 10
which is what i have been trying to avoid due to frequent updates and crashes
of other systems.

Any advice on what sort of system weewx needs to run would be good (again i
should Google this first!).

[weewx-user] ClientRaw - Loop to Server?

2019-01-30 Thread 'Andy Hudson-Smith' via weewx-user
Morning - I have installed the ClientRaw plugin as I'm looking to keep
running some pages using the clientraw system - :

http://www.finchamweather.co.uk/

However, the current version runs from clientraw being uploaded every 3
seconds. In weewx with my first test i see it being uploaded every 5
minutes, via reports.

Is it ok to change this setting to 3 seconds or if there a better way to
get clientraw to the server so it shows realtime data?

Andy

That worked - thanks a lot, i was missing the name!

Below is the snip in case it also helps anyone else. Easy when you know how
:)

I now have rain in mm and wind in mph, so the norm in the UK.

Thanks again

[weewx-user] MQTT - wind miles per hour - stops MQTT running

2019-01-29 Thread 'Andy Hudson-Smith' via weewx-user
Evening,

Hope its ok to ask - i have MQTT running happily but i am looking to use
MPH for wind (UK configertation). I have written the config file as (it
does not work - this the commenting out)

 binding = loop

unit_system = METRICWX

# [[[inputs]]]

#windSpeed

# units = mile_per_hour

If i uncomment the lines the MQTT service does not seem to even run - yet i
think i have the code correct to change mps to mph?

Any help would be great,

Thanks

Andy

Thanks for the pointer - I now have it working with MQTT and images (quite
a rookie error on the images front!).

Thanks again for helping,

Andy
