When my unattended Pi 3B running weewx goes down for a longer time it takes
a while until Wunderground starts displaying data after the Pi boots up.
I think Wunderground may blocks data for a period of time until there is a
steady transmit rate.
Weewx is set to Rapid Fire.

I am also a kiter.
I highly recommend using Weewx it is simply great software and extremely
flexible.
I have setup three different remote weather stations each using a Raspberry
Pi and Weewx.
I remotely control them with Real VNC, which is a free package on all
Raspberry Pi's and no port
