I tried to get the wikipedia DVD image from
ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/wikipedia.de/wp_1_2005.iso
and there is a problem with the size handling in wget.
Filesystem is ext3 and does definitively support files greater than 2GB.
wget justs abort at 2GB-1 Byte and declares

try using wget 1.10-alpha2:
