Thought a little more about this issue.
The convert-links option is what is appending index.html to all the
URL's that end in a directory to the web pages I'm downloading. I need
to use this option to strip the information about the original web
server I'm creating the mirror from.
However,
parameter option --stdout
this option would print the file being downloaded directly to stdout. which
would also mean that _only_ the file's content is printed. no errors,
verbosity.
usefulness?
wget --stdout http://server.com/file.bz2 | bzcat file
