Re: Error connecting to target server
It works fine from here (209.98.249.184, Wget 1.10.2a1, VMS Alpha V7.3-2). If it hangs for you, it could be that firewall. It's easy enough to block port 80 and pass "ping". Does any browser work? I suspect not. Steven M. Schweda (+1) 651-699-9818 382 South Warwick Street[EMAIL PROTECTED] Saint Paul MN 55105-2547

I think http://www.gnu.org/software/wget/faq.html should have another question: "Why did my download fail and how can I get it to work?" In the answer to that question we should mention all the common failure modes: disallowed by robots.txt, need to set user agent to look like a browser, META refresh (as above), etc. along with the command line options to resolve the failure. Also, perhaps the next version of wget can handle META refresh. Tony
RE: Error connecting to target server
Hi, Thanks for your reply. Only ping works for bbc.com and not wget. Output is given below. bash-2.03$ wget http://mirror.itu.int/html-files.tar.gz --09:53:43-- http://mirror.itu.int/html-files.tar.gz => `html-files.tar.gz' Resolving mirror.itu.int... 156.106.192.159 Connecting to mirror.itu.int|156.106.192.159|:80... # wget www.bbc.com --09:55:21-- http://www.bbc.com/ => `index.html' Resolving www.bbc.com... 212.58.224.86 Connecting to www.bbc.com|212.58.224.86|:80... ^C # uname -a SunOS 5.8 Generic_108528-23 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-60 Thanks & Regards, Mabu Shaik -Original Message- From: Noèl Köthe [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 11 November 2005 09:18 To: Shaik,M,Mabu,JRM3X C Cc: wget@sunsite.dk Subject: Re: Error connecting to target server Am Mittwoch, den 09.11.2005, 17:38 + schrieb [EMAIL PROTECTED]: > I have installed latest wget available and I tried to use wget > utility.
