[Wicket-user] java.util.MissingResourceException with wicket-1.2-20060216.jar
Hi all, I am using the wicket-1.2-20060216.jar I have a panel called PersonFormPanel where I add a form with id=personForm In this form I add an RequiredTextField with id=name I created a properties file in the same folder with an entry like this: personForm.name.RequiredValidator=Name is a Mandatory field The problem is that when I try to submit the form without the name value, I am getting this error: Unexpected RuntimeException Root cause: java.util.MissingResourceException: Unable to find resource: RequiredValidator If i change the properties file to use: name.RequiredValidator=Name is a Mandatory field It works fine, but it ignores the form Id. Is this the expected behaviour? The problem I see with this is that I can not have two different forms in my panel with elements with equivalent ids and different messages. [Wicket-user] @SpringBean annotations
Hey all,I just started playing with wicket-spring and wicket-spring-annot to move my spring code away from my Application subclass.I'm using the SpringWebApplicationFactory to load my application out of my spring config, and my Application extends AnnotSpringWebApplication. I have a page thats got several @SpringBeans in them and that seems to be constructed and injected fine, but I get the following exception thrown when I construct a Link subclass in the constructor of my page: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class net.sf.cglib.proxy.Enhancer at wicket.proxy.LazyInitProxyFactory.createProxy(LazyInitProxyFactory.java:133) at wicket.spring.injection.annot.AnnotProxyFieldValueFactory.getFieldValue (AnnotProxyFieldValueFactory.java:97) at wicket.injection.Injector.inject(Injector.java:110) at wicket.injection.ConfigurableInjector.inject(ConfigurableInjector.java:24) at wicket.injection.ComponentInjector.onInstantiation (ComponentInjector.java:54) at wicket.Application.notifyComponentInstantiationListeners(Application.java:592) at wicket.Component.init(Component.java:537) at wicket.MarkupContainer.init( MarkupContainer.java:110) at wicket.markup.html.WebMarkupContainer.init(WebMarkupContainer.java:52) at wicket.markup.html.link.Link.init(Link.java:107) at com.theoryinpractice.timetrackr.pages.EmailReportLink .init(EmailReportLink.java:47) at com.theoryinpractice.timetrackr.pages.Index.init(Index.java:71)One would assume that since I already have wicket proxy objects for the injected beans on the Page, that cglib has been initialized once before, so why would this be cropping up now? None of the other components added to the page prior to this EmailReportLink included annotations.Hopefully one of the wicket gods will know whats going on here and can fix it up...Cheers,Mark -- i like my video games - mamma said they are gonna melt my brainsi like my video games - i don't care what daddy said; they're my reality- henning pauly

Re: [Wicket-user] java.util.MissingResourceException with wicket-1.2-20060216.jar
Seems to me that traverseResourceLoaders() in wicket.Localizer has a bug: prefix = Strings.beforeLast(prefix, '.'); ... should be: prefix = Strings.afterFirst(prefix, '.'); The iteration goes from the page down to the component so that component-path prefix should be shortened from the head instead of the tail: a.b.c.d.foo.RequiredValidator b.c.d.foo.RequiredValidator c.d.foo.RequiredValidator d.foo.RequiredValidator foo.RequiredValidator There was some huge refactoring done on revision 1.21, this functionality was previously located in ComponentStringResourceLoader.java (with the correct method call afterFirst()). Sven Thanks for the answer, but I had already looked at that page. The problem is that the page shows a sample that is not like my case. Let me explain: In the page you sent you have the following component hierarchy: APage -BForm id=b --XPanel id=x RequiredTextField id=foo --YPanel id=y RequiredTextField id=foo In this case make sense to have a XPanel.properties without a reference to the form, like: foo.RequiredValidator = Foo is required. But in my case, the form is inside the panel, as I would like to use the full form as a reusable component: APage -APanel id=ap --AForm id=af RequiredTextField id=foo I would expect in this case that the APanel.properties would include also the form id: af.foo.RequiredValidator = Foo is required. The problem of using only foo.RequiredValidator in this case will appear when trying to add two forms in the same Panel: APage -APanel id=ap --AForm id=af RequiredTextField id=foo --BForm id=bf RequiredTextField id=foo If I use the form id in the APanel.properties, I will have no problem: af.foo.RequiredValidator = Foo is required. bf.foo.RequiredValidator = Foo is extremely required. but if I don't use the form id, how I can differentiate them in the panel? RE: Results so far (was Re: [Wicket-user] VOTE)
I may be offering an opinion on something already decided, but it seems to me that if we change the constructors in an earlier release, and then go to Java 1.5 on a subsequent release, if that makes maintenance of two versions easier (post-1.5 and pre-1.5) easier. Advantages: (1) Less future work for the developers means faster improvement to Wicket in the long run. (2) The applications produced by users who cannot upgrade to 1.5 yet will be easier to upgrade when they finally can do so -- the obsolete user code they're accumulating won't be quite so obsolete. (3) The inconvenience of upgrading user code in two phases (for those who have no impediments to using Java 1.5 now) is a transitory problem. Of course, one could make this argument about any code-breaking change to the API, delaying the upgrade to Java 1.5 indefinitely. But I'm assuming that the constructor changes are an unusually severe break in the API. /Frank -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Eelco Hillenius Sent: Wednesday, February 22, 2006 10:15 AM To: wicket-user@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: Results so far (was Re: [Wicket-user] VOTE) I agree with Johan here. Re: [Wicket-user] question re DropDownList
if you look closer you will see that updateModel() is declared to be final and thus cannot be overridden. this method is where internally we translate the request value into the proper object and then push it into your model. wicket's recommended way of interactining with form components is through the models. IModel interface is very flexible and you can easily create decorators for existing models that pre and post process data, as well as create your own implementations entirely. this is one of the central concepts of wicket and i can guarantee it is a good investment of your time to understand how it works if you want to use wicket. -IgorOn 2/22/06, Frank Silbermann [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: In most of the component examples we use a PropertyModel so the model isautomatically updated.I presume that with the DropDownList the modelwould be set to the selected string. What is the purpose of its void updateModel() method? Is this something to override so that instead of setting the model object to theselected string we can compute some other value (a value typicallycomputed _using_ on the selected string?--- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. i havent thought about it /that/ much. but for example if you have a factory, the factory will need to be refactored.also situations where you are creating components but not yet adding them to the parent will have to be refactored to work differently. although i think this is an edge case. -IgorOn 2/22/06, Eelco Hillenius [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Which ones? This brings up a related issue... Is there a more elegant way for us to handle the case where an exception occurs after the response stream has been written to? That is, if we flushed some data into the output, an exception occurs, Wicket currently redirects to the error page but (as far as I recall) the browser does not display it and worse yet sometimes it just hangs there waiting for more data. I suspect that the browser is expecting some content-length and we stop prematurely sending it data (from its point of view) so it is just sitting there. This is just a guess and I could be wrong. Is there a more elegant way for us to handle this to cause the browser to fail-fast (not hang there) and if possible redirect to the error page somehow (I doubt the latter is possible)? Re: [Wicket-user] wicket:head, wicket:border ..and others..
We should review wicket:component ... frankly I don't even remember how it is supposed to be used (I don't think it ever was fully functional). I found a Wiki entry: http://www.wicket-wiki.org.uk/wiki/index.php/Tags but for wicket:component it says TODO... that is, it is not documented. Do we have plans to expand on this or do we just remove wicket:component altogether if it doesn't work? Gili karthik Guru wrote: How many such tags exist? Re: [Spam] Re: [Wicket-user] wicket:head, wicket:border ..and others..
What patches? I'm asking whether or not we plan on keeping wicket:component around or not. That's a design decision. Furthermore, I've already pointed out that I'm not familiar with the current state of wicket:component which is why I am asking. Please stop trying to be hostile. There is no need for it. They are there for Ajax support. So if you are not looking to attach Ajax behaviour to any of the components , then you dont need them. [Wicket-user] Including a Wicket page in HTML-formatted email
I'd like to render a Wicket page to a stream, then include that content as the HTML body of an email message. Any suggestions on how to accomplish that? Thanks for your time.
[Wicket-user] Listview: cannot instantiate the type
Title: Listview: cannot instantiate the type Hi Im having trouble instantiateing the Listview control, I get the error Cannot Instiantiate the type ListView. This is within these lines the errors occur: private wicket.markup.html.list.ListView myList; List forklaring = Arrays.asList(new String[] { Aktuelle forløb fordelt på varighed, antal forløb, Forløb pr. berørt, æ, ø, å }); myList = new wicket.markup.html.list.ListView(list,forklaring); This part is taken from the javadoc documentation: add(new ListView(rows, listData) which I belive is pretty similar to the code which Ive written. Re: [Wicket-user] Listview: cannot instantiate the type
ListView is abstract. You must implement the populateItem(...) method:new ListView(list, forklaring) { public void populateItem(ListItem item) { // add stuff to item. }};On 2/23/06, Nino Wael [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Im having trouble instantiateing the Listview control, I get the error "Cannot Instiantiate the type ListView" .
