I also confirm the low priority here. Most wiki websites, including those only
for Intranet use, will use a domain name, and not refer to the server using an

Unless I am mistaken this bug will be closed with or after the release of
version 1.18. The version 1.18.0rc1 installer sets $wgServer in
LocalSettings.php.
