LordAndrew: The tag doesn't work on MediaWiki:Cite_text, but it does work on
Special:Cite. That's not a problem (for us the users, at least). I think it
always did the same.

Date and time templates inside Special:Cite ({{CURRENTDAY}} and family) refer
to the cited page last modification time. But if you enclose them around
"citation" tags, they refer to the act

There does appear to _be_ a tag extension, but as far as I know it's
never been used on Wikimedia sites. No sign of it in any configuration files.
