[Bug 22591] New: Allow i18n of Main namespace search option label
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22591 Summary: Allow i18n of Main namespace search option label Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: i18n Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: Inputbox AssignedTo: tpars...@wikimedia.org ReportedBy: martinezn...@gmail.com In the Inputbox extension you can specify the namespaces= parameter to define what namespaces to search, putting a list of namespace names. The "Main" namespace can only be specified with the "Main" keyword. The problem is that, while other namespaces are identified with their names in the language of the wiki, the "Main" namespace appears as-is, without proper translation in non-english wikis. It should be a MediaWiki: message to define the representation of the "Main" namespace. It could use the [[MediaWiki:Blanknamespace]] message that is present in the advanced search, or a new one. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 22594] New: Bugs in MetadataEdit extension
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22594 Summary: Bugs in MetadataEdit extension Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: need-review, patch Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: [other] AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: alex.emsenhu...@bluewin.ch CC: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org, mar...@marcus.net Depends on: 8790 +++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #8790 +++ I have discovered a number of bugs in the $wgUseMetadataEdit code: - "show changes" on the edit page does not include the metadata - metadata edits can be lost or misordered during section edits - the current code will simply stuff the new/edited metadata into the end of the section being edited, while leaving any existing metadata at the end of the article. - the parser that extracts metadata appears to have a condition that can cause the loss of content from previous revisions. - i did not actually experience this bug, but in trying to understand how the parser works, i discovered that it sometimes fails to un-explode the content, which could in theory replace text with "Array" in the articles. Look for the "$y = implode("]]", $y)" on line 70 of my patch. - metadata ordering can change between normal edits, which makes history diffs messy. 1. edit the page. add a new whitelist metadata field to the normal textbox. save the page. Note in the source of the new revision that your metadata is still in the middle of the article content. 2. edit the page again. add some new content in the normal textbox. save the page. Note that the source of the new revision now has the metadata from step 1 located at the end of the text, rather than in the middle of it. I believe that I have fixed these bugs, and I will attach the patch in a moment. The patch also includes two new hooks, which allow an extension to replace both the metadata parser and the metadata textbox on the EditPage. I believe that this patch will have zero impact on any installations that are not using $wgUseMetaDataEdit. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. [Bug 22595] New: Displaying typewriter apostrophe as typographic one in Ukrainian wiki
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22595 Summary: Displaying typewriter apostrophe as typographic one in Ukrainian wiki Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: Page rendering AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: yev...@shulha.kiev.ua In Ukrainian, the apostrophe is widely used. During several years there were many discussions in uk.wikipedia, whether or not to comply with the typographic rules (and the Unicode requirement, http://unicode.org/reports/tr8/#Apostrophe%20Semantics%20Errata), that suggest to use the typographic apostrophe (’) instead of the typewriter one ('). The former is not present on the keyboard so its introduction may cause difficulties, and there will be a need to somehow replace previously used typewriter apostrophes in many articles. Trying both to comply with typographic requirements and cause as less trouble as possible we came to the decision, that we should ask to change the way page is being rendered, so the typewriter apostrophe will be used to enter the text while editing the page source, but while rendering the page the engine should replace (both in text and in article's title) this symbol (') with a U+02BC symbol, which is Unicode-recommended apostrophe best-fit for Ukrainian. I should obviously mention that typewriter apostrophes which are used by wiki-engine for marking up bold and italic passages in article should not be changed. To distinguish which apostrophe should be altered I propose to check if it is placed between other characters (no spaces, numbers or other symbols next to it), as this is the only case how apostrophe may appear in Ukrainian word. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. This could be done either by adding a new preprocessor flag, or by adding a new output type. The latter is a better choice, as the current situation where OT_WIKI appears to be used for two things but is only used for one is very counter intuitive. Besides, I can't think of a good name for a flag to add to PPFrame::RECOVER_ORIG to indicate "'s the contents of top-level tags instead of ing the tags themselves". [Bug 22603] Incomplete site info request gives improperly formatted return
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22603 --- Comment #1 from Smallman 2010-02-21 04:04:08 UTC --- On second thought, it really should return an error message as http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&meta=siteinfo&sifilteriw does so it should return something like: It should return some kind of error message, not a borked api message as it currently does. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
