/me notes he was already getting bugmail for this bug as its reporter, so the
cc is unnecessary, but thanks for thinking of me.

Crossing fingers that this gets re-implemented, but I understand that
scalability takes precedence over minor features like this one.

I think it's because the API returns a real result from database. Titles are
auto converted in Language Converter but still remain differences in database.
Perhaps we can an extra parameter to provide a variant-insensitive query.

Patch

Found the problem (I dropped the empty-page case). Attached an updated patch
that fix it. By doing htmlspecialchars after the matching phase, it allow to
get rid of unreadable look-ahead. And I commented the regexp using /x modifier
of PCRE. But that’s still not possible to convert this into POSIX regexp, since
ereg_* doesn't have an equivalent of preg_replace_callback.

Also, your file has a problem page 8
(http://fr.wikisource.org/w/index.php?title=Page:Revue_des_Romans_%281839%29.djvu/8action=edit).
As a side-effect, the patch fixes that too ;)

 Component: General/Unknown
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org

Hi,

Had an idea for an extention for one of my private wikis that would manipulate
the statistics.
ie. not incrementing the counter in certain situations (not for logged in
users, or not when a certain url-parameter is set).

But that is when I found out no hook (that I could find) is present in the
statistics updater, thuss making it impossible without hard-coding to do
anything with it.

The relevant code is in Article.php : line 3242 and on, which calls the
SiteStatsUpdate() class defined in SiteStats.php : line 181 and on.

section=47 if I typed it manually.

The headline in question is

pre
== 本地{{hideH}}模板使得没有鼠标的用户无法阅读其中内容 ==
/pre

The {{hideH}} template is comparable to en.wiki's Collapse DIV's things.
I asume the reason for this is because it's adding a block level element, thus
the [edit] link can't be added anywhere good.

however it is interesting that section=n manually does work. Presumably because
the code for section=n looks at the source code directly and find a perfectly
fine == heading == there.

I guess the normal renderer doesn't recognize that 'section' as a section
because it's even not in TOC; not knowing where to put the link is not a
blocker. However, the parser used for section= recognizes that 'section' as a
section, which leads to this bug.

[Bug 24301] New: Web upgrade fail silently on Maintenance.php

2010-07-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24301

   Summary: Web upgrade fail silently on Maintenance.php
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.17-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: blocker
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Installation
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: platoni...@gmail.com

The web updater uses updaters.inc, which require if needed
populateCategory.php, populateParentId.php, populateRevisionLength.php and
populateLogSearch.php.
This used to be .inc before r63225. Since the .php have been ported to
doMaintenance style (r54225), they use Maintenance.php, which exits if called
from a web server.

Result of this, upgrading from old installs fails silently midway (the error
message goes to stderr).

deleteDefaultMessages.php isn't affected since it directly calls the static
reallyExecute()

1.16 doesn't seem affected.

Bryan, I think that it worked normally back in January 2010. What I am certain
of is that it worked normally since 2008/2009, when I started Wiki botwork.

Patch to ApiPageSet

I don't know why it has worked before. There appears to be no relevant code in
ApiPageSet, which is where I would expect such code to reside. There are also
no revisions that are related to this.

Attached patch should work, but I have not tested it since I do not have a wiki
with variants set up.

Updated summary to reflect the actual source of the the bug -- and the fact
that the nomcom wiki was deleted.

As stated in comment 6 the problem is the line nomcom in
http://noc.wikimedia.org/conf/langlist - needs someone with the necessary
access to remove it.

[Bug 24302] New: Account login attempts are sometimes interpreted as account creation attempts

2010-07-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24302

   Summary: Account login attempts are sometimes interpreted as
account creation attempts
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.16-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Normal
 Component: User login
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: m...@chrishowie.com

On unblock-en-l we consistently (about 2-3 times a month) see someone who is
having trouble logging in when their IP address is blocked. When they attempt
to log in, they receive a cannot create account error message.

We have verified with many of these users that they are entering their account
name in the correct case, and that the account already exists (e.g. it's not an
attempt by SUL to create an account).

I'm unsure what information you will need to investigate this bug. Just let me
know.

At the moment when you encounter an error with the API, it can be difficult to
trace that problem to a specific srv, because the api doesn't usually render in
html. If possible we should find a way to expose the number trough a HTML
response header or something.

We get a HTML comment on normal pages...

And as a HTML comment in pretty printed api pages...

Should be trivial ish, if we can think of a sane way to do it.

[Bug 24304] New: Reconfigure English Wikibooks

2010-07-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24304

   Summary: Reconfigure English Wikibooks
   Product: Wikimedia
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
   URL: http://en.wikibooks.org/w/index.php?title=Wikibooks:Re
ading_room/Generaloldid=1875708#Reconfigure_Wikibooks
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Keywords: shell
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Site requests
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: aaron.adrign...@gmail.com

There are several configuration changes the community has decided on for
English Wikibooks. I'm going to break this up into parts to match up with the
changes requested. I've provided the code needed to effect these changes for
the convenience of the developers, though some may have to be tweaked for the
arrays being used in Flaggedrevs.php and InitialiseSettings.php.

For flagged revisions, anonymous users should now see the current revision
instead of the latest reviewed revision. Please *add*:

$wgFlaggedRevsOverride = false;

New pages created by reviewers should be reviewed by default. Please *remove*:

$wgFlaggedRevsAutoReviewNew = false;

Use three levels other than unreviewed, rather than the current four. Please
*remove*:

$wgFlaggedRevValues = 4;

Please *change* $wgFlaggedRevTags to:

$wgFlaggedRevTags = array(
  'quality' = array('levels' = 3, 'quality' = 2, 'pristine' = 3) );

Please run an SQL query to replace all ratings on composition with ones on
quality so that current work done to review pages is not lost. Current
entries for accuracy or coverage are no longer needed, but they probably
will do no harm remaining in the database.

There should no longer be any restriction on what review levels can be
reviewed, by those who can review. Please *remove*:

$wgFlagRestrictions = array(
   'composition' = array( 'review' = 3, 'autoreview' = 3 ),
   'accuracy'= array( 'review' = 3, 'autoreview' = 3 ),
   'coverage'= array( 'review' = 3, 'autoreview' = 3 ),
);

Because the most recent version will be shown by default, it will be necessary
to switch between latest and stable with tabs. Please *remove*:

$wgFlaggedRevTabs = false;

The comment box for providing reviews should be removed. Please *change*
$wgFlaggedRevComments to:

$wgFlaggedRevComments = false;

Autopromotion criteria are being changed. Please reduce the edit intervals
from 10 to 8, reduce recent changes edits from 10 to 5, and remove the
requirement for a unique IP address. $wgFlaggedRevsAutopromote should look
like the following:

$wgFlaggedRevsAutopromote = array(
  'days' = 30,
  'edits' = 100,
  'excludeDeleted' = true,
  'spacing' = 2,
  'benchmarks' = 8,
  'recentContentEdits' = 5,
  'totalContentEdits' = 50,
  'uniqueContentPages' = 10,
  'editComments' = 50,
  'email' = true,
  'userpage' = false,
  'uniqueIPAddress' = false,
  'neverBlocked' = true,
) + $wgFlaggedRevsAutopromote;

The editor group will be getting rollback. Please *add*:

$wgGroupPermissions['editor']['rollback'] = true;

Page patrol is not used in any namespace with flagged revisions enabled.
Please *change* $wgGroupPermissions for sysops to the following three lines in
flaggedrevs.php:

$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['review'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['stablesettings'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['validate'] = true;

With restrictions on who can rate to what level removed, we have no need for
the separate reviewer and editor groups any longer and would like the reviewer
group removed. If we need to remove people from it first, please let us know.
Please *add*:

unset($wgGroupPermissions['reviewer']);

We do not use the importer group and we plan to enable the transwiki importer
group (see below). To remove the distinction and make the importer group
disappear from Special:ListGroupRights, please *add*:

unset($wgGroupPermissions['importupload']);

We would like to enable the AbuseFilter extension (see below) with custom
permissions.  Please *add*:

$wgGroupPermissions['*']['abusefilter-view'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['abusefilter-log'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['autoconfirmed']['abusefilter-view'] = true;
$wgGroupPermissions['autoconfirmed']['abusefilter-log'] = true;

We would like to enable the Reader Feedback extension (see below) for the main,
Wikijunior, and Cookbook namespaces. Please *add*:

$wgFeedbackNamespaces = array(NS_MAIN, 102, 110);

Feedback should be retained for 180 days. Please *add*:

$wgFeedbackAge = 180 * 24 * 3600;

Feedback should not be meaningful until five readers have submitted responses.
Please *add*:

$wgFeedbackSizeThreshhold = 5;

The Reader Feedback extension should be enabled. Please *add*:

'enwikibooks' = true

to the 'wmgUseReaderFeedback' array.

The Abuse Filter extension should be enabled. Please *add*:

'enwikibooks' = true

to the 'wmgUseAbuseFilter' array.

If we need to run maintenance scripts from the web, then presumably
Maintenance.php should be fixed to allow that. (Or, if it can't be fixed that
way for some fundamental reason, then we should scrap it and replace it with a
system that does what we need.)

Of course we should be careful not to introduce security holes in doing so, but
we need to be careful about that anyway if we want to allow maintenance without
without shell access. Unfortunately, I'm not really familiar enough (read: at
all) with the web updater to say anything more specific. But what we _don't_
need is two copies of each maintenance script, one using Maintenance.php and
one not.

It is not possible to undo the edit of a section after adding a new one.

Steps to reprocue:

* UserA added a new sectionA on PageA
* UserB is adding a sentence to the sectionA
* UserC added a new sectionB on PageA
* UserD undo change of UserB and get a warning

The adding of a new section is counted as change to the previous section, so
the warning appears, that it is not possible to undo that change.

Maybe the switch should be per Wiki. As a bot owner on SR.WP, I can't imagine a
single reason why one would want to deactivate this behavior, which is why I
set a question to Liangent.

Beside that, I have nothing against introducing a parameter that helps changing
