https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4488 --- Comment #7 from P.Copp paul.copper...@googlemail.com 2009-02-17 17:25:24 UTC --- Created an attachment (id=5823) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=5823) Proposed patch: Add user preference 'watchrollback' I assume, nobody is currently working on this, but as it seems quite straightforward to implement, I gave it a try. Per comment #3 and #4 this patch adds a separate user preference for watching rolled back pages automatically. To make the display page after the rollback work properly, I had to add the methods watch() and unwatch() to the Title class, so $wgTitle-userIsWatching() gives the correct result afterwards. Actually there are some more places, that call $wgUser-addWatch( $title ) which could be replaced now by $title-watch(), but I didn't want to add too much clutter to the patch, so I left it for now. While it's a common practice to use action=purge to force a re-render of pages when they are being cached, I'm not sure it's something we should *promote* the use of. In theory, when things change how a page is rendered, it should be updated. When it doesn't, that is a bug. Promoting people to use action=purge will make people more likely to just purge the cache and forget why it didn't show up right to begin with. In short: purge is a dirty hack around what should be happening automatically, and we shouldn't be encouraging its use (even though it's very helpful to have). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 12963] allow per-page exceptions to spam blacklist
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12963 Mike.lifeguard mikelifegu...@fastmail.fm changed: What|Removed |Added CC||djbeets...@hotmail.com --- Comment #4 from Mike.lifeguard mikelifegu...@fastmail.fm 2009-02-17 22:22:15 UTC --- (In reply to comment #3) The site-wide whitelist allows the listed urls for all the pages of the side, afaik; it is meant to override the global blacklist (that is, it is a site-wide list exceptions for meta-site blacklisted urls, rather than single-page exceptions for the site-wide blacklist). No, it is /of course/ used for exceptions to blacklisting on the local blacklist! This is often done for domains which have been spammed, but the main page (domain.com/index.html or something) is needed as a link on the article about the site/organization/whatever. Now, I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I asked some people about this before I submitted this bug. If the whitelist does indeed allow specifying only one or a few pages where an url is allowed (like in [[MediaWiki:Bad image list]]), then this should at best be closed as WORKSFORME. Otherwise, I think it is a worthy enhancement. It doesn't allow that currently, but I just don't think it's useful. I can't think of a case where it's needed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. But it is incorrect. In English perhaps a [countryname] can be an adjective to any noun (French cheese, English county, Samoan people, Tongan house), or lacking the noun, it can act as a noun itself, meaning the language of that country. Not so in Tongan. Fakatonga means Tongan as an adjective and never as a noun. Tongan language therefore must be translated as lea fakatonga (or lea faka-Tonga, the jury is out on that, but since fakatonga can also means 'south', perhaps the latter form should be preferred). In [http://wa.wikipedia.org wa.wiki Wikipedia in Walon] there is a Walon dictionary embedded with several thousand pages: [[w:wa:Wikipedia:Pordjet_Motî]] is the portal to it and the lemmata are in the namespace '''Motî:''', which is not a real namespace but just a prefix. Now they want to tranfer those lemmata to wa.wikt. Could somebody transfer those pages to http://wa.wiktionary.org (preferably without the '''Motî:''' bit)? Thanks. [Bug 17548] New: Global Blocking Form should have id attributes
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17548 Summary: Global Blocking Form should have id attributes Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: GlobalBlocking AssignedTo: and...@epstone.net ReportedBy: char...@mudoo.net CC: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org Created an attachment (id=5827) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=5827) Patch #1 Could we get some id attributes on the Global Blocking form? The reason is so that one can make the form automatically focus using Javascript, to aid in speeding up the process of banning proxies. I've attached a simple patch that will do this. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
[Bug 11209] Image directories vulnerable to other local users

[Bug 17422] Use Sessions instead of cookies for Login
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17422 tim...@email.com changed: What|Removed |Added Priority|Low |Highest --- Comment #3 from tim...@email.com 2009-02-18 02:46:38 UTC --- Alexandre Emsenhuber, Try this using IE7: Click Tools, then click delete browsing history and clear everything. Close IE7. Now open IE7, click on Tools, Internet options, Privacy, and slide to choose the setting BLOCK ALL COOKIES, then go to bugzilla.wikimedia.org and Login with your email and password, then click on enter a new bug, and you will see it will Log you out, so you will NOT be able to enter a new bug report. This is because mediawiki uses COOKIES and if cookies are DISABLED on a web browser, you cannot login OR you will be LOGGED out. Using Sessions works WITHOUT cookies. That's why I said use Sessions instead of cookies. Another example, with your cookies STILL blocked, go to wikipedia.org, and login and it will say this: Login error.Wikipedia uses cookies to log in users. You have cookies disabled. Please enable them and try again. Brad Jorsch, the Session key is DELETED when a user closes their browser. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 17422] Use Sessions instead of cookies for Login
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17422 Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org changed: What|Removed |Added Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution||WONTFIX --- Comment #4 from Brion Vibber br...@wikimedia.org 2009-02-18 02:51:24 UTC --- URL-based session tokens are unsafe (they leak to 3rd-party referers and in cut-n-paste), disrupt caching, and are otherwise troublesome -- cookies were introduced to HTTP precisely to allow state like login sessions to be handled more sensibly than this. MediaWiki does not and will not support URL-based sessions due to those problems. If you are referring instead to HTTP authentication, that's even harder to deal with -- there's no native way to close a login session or forget credentials temporarily. We have no intention to support this either, though there are HTTP auth plugins available. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
