[Bug 21295] New: Geolocation on CentralNotice
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21295 Summary: Geolocation on CentralNotice Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: CentralNotice AssignedTo: tf...@wikimedia.org ReportedBy: mediaw...@mikepeel.net At the moment, CentralNotice displays on a per-language basis, due to the organization of Wikimedia wikis. However, it would be useful if it were possible to display a notice to only a geographical area, e.g. if there is an upcoming or ongoing event in that area. The logical way to do this would be to link CentralNotice with Geolocation. Geolocation is already done on en.wp watchlist notifications, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Geonotice This also gives a flavour for the type of notice that this feature would be useful for. The major drawbacks with the current method are 1. the lack of visibility (the watchlist page, whilst high traffic, does not have the same visibility as the whole of the site), and 2. It only displays the information to registered and logged in users. Geolocation currently runs on the Toolserver, so it would need to be installed on Wikimedia servers first. I believe that work is being done to this end for the 2009-2010 winter fundraising drive. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

Too much code, most of it likely unneeded. And there's no usage description, so it's hard to understand what it is expected to do, even. Moreover, I don't see how this extension could fix the problem. Wikinews:Google_news states that the usage of curid= is due to Google News only following links which contain numbers. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20818 --- Comment #8 from Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com 2009-10-26 14:27:59 UTC --- Google news gives us two options for allowing them to index us. *Treat any article linked from the main page with a number in the url as news (This has the problem of we don't like numbers in our article titles, hence the curid. Plus it doesn't let us put developing articles on main page, lest one of the titles has a number in it) *Option two, treat anything in a google news sitemap (Which is slightly different from a normal sitemap. [Bug 21297] Collapsing Tabs: 600 x 480 Sinhala wiki hide Read section
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21297 --- Comment #4 from Trevor Parscal tpars...@wikimedia.org 2009-10-26 17:36:30 UTC --- The collapsible tabs do not hide the read and view in these screen-shots, the read and view tabs are merely obscured by the article and discussion tabs. Before the collapsible tabs, any resolution below 800x600 was in danger of causing these kinds of tab-obscuring layout issues, especially in languages with long words like German and Polish. The collapsible tabs automatically hides some of the tabs, making that minimum resolution much closer to 640x480, but that's not the ONLY reason for it. The other reason is that it lets us put extra items at the tab level, like Add Topic for most users. I think we may want to solve this problem by setting a minimum width. The CSS min-width property is not generally supported right now, so other tricks like using a 1px tall 800px wide transparent png on the page may work. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 20186] Allow filtering history and contributions lists for revision deletion
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20186 --- Comment #5 from Church of emacs church.of.emacs...@gmail.com 2009-10-26 18:52:21 UTC --- Done for page history in r58153. Note that there are two restrictions: * No big pages. We check for isBigDeletion, which checks for $wgDeleteRevisionsLimit (5000 on WMF wikis). On larger histories, it takes a lot of time to examine all revisions for rev_deleted. * Only to users with 'deleterevision' right. We are paranoid (requesting this operation on a page with 4999 revisions might be a starting point for a DDoS), plus only users with 'deleterevision' right can actually check the content of the deleted revisions. [Bug 19865] en.Wikinews would like to make Vector the default skin
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19865 --- Comment #13 from Jon Davis w...@konsoletek.com 2009-10-27 01:50:02 UTC --- You can go ahead and turn on the enhanced toolbar as default and then remove the try beta. Naoko beat me to the punch, we've got high retention rates for the enhanced toolbar. [Bug 21290] input type|default=now loses Month and AM/PM in multipart form
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21290 --- Comment #3 from Jack D. Pond jack.p...@psitex.com 2009-10-27 03:13:14 UTC --- Yaron, This is a pretty complex form (actually form, 3 subparts, 2 are multipart). We have a test environment that I'd be glad to give you full access to (would save me trying to recreate a very complex set of forms). I'll approve you as soon as you add an account. If that's too much of a hassle, I'll recreate the forms - its just a lot of work. Could you look at it here: http://wiki.montcopa.org/TestWiki/index.php?title=Form:Change_Incident_Report or create a new form from http://wiki.montcopa.org/TestWiki/index.php?title=TEST:Main_Page. [Bug 21305] New: Article name padding for page name=-unique number;start=000000
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21305 Summary: Article name padding for page name=-unique number;start=00 Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: any Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: SemanticForms AssignedTo: yaro...@gmail.com ReportedBy: jack.p...@psitex.com CC: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org Created an attachment (id=6724) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=6724) 1 line patch to pad unique number to size specified in {{info}} Allow fixed link (0 padded) article names when generated from AddData. Without padding, the article name returned from unique number . . . is variable, which can cause multiple issues. The most common is when sorting by name. Example: 1 11 12 . . . 2 21 etc. The attached patch would allow the editor to specify a fixed length value, so that sorts would be sequential. Example, page name=-unique number;start=00 would create sequential articles i.e.: 00 01 02 . . . 10 11 . . . 20 Requires patch to SF_AddData and update to documentation: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Semantic_Forms#The_one-step_process Backward compatible. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21297 Calcey QA wikib...@calcey.com changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|INVALID |LATER --- Comment #5 from Calcey QA wikib...@calcey.com 2009-10-27 04:58:14 UTC --- (In reply to comment #4) I think we may want to solve this problem by setting a minimum width. The CSS min-width property is not generally supported right now, so other tricks like using a 1px tall 800px wide transparent png on the page may work.
