[Bug 25503] Specified key was too long error in update.php script while altering categorylinks table which has myisam engine
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25503 --- Comment #5 from Dmitriy c...@uniyar.ac.ru 2010-10-14 10:41:27 UTC --- Please post the output of SHOW CREATE TABLE wiki_categorylinks\G. I have a guess as to how this could happen, but would like to confirm it. Here's the output: CREATE TABLE `wiki_categorylinks` ( `cl_from` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0', `cl_to` varchar(255) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `cl_sortkey` varbinary(255) NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `cl_timestamp` timestamp NOT NULL DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, `cl_sortkey_prefix` varchar(255) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_bin NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `cl_collation` varbinary(32) NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `cl_type` enum('page','subcat','file') NOT NULL DEFAULT 'page', UNIQUE KEY `cl_from` (`cl_from`,`cl_to`), KEY `cl_timestamp` (`cl_to`,`cl_timestamp`), KEY `cl_collation` (`cl_collation`), KEY `cl_sortkey` (`cl_to`,`cl_type`,`cl_sortkey`(1),`cl_from`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8 Then, I've tried field length of 231 utf8 chars: ALTER TABLE wiki_categorylinks CHANGE COLUMN cl_sortkey cl_sortkey varbinary(231) NOT NULL default ''; caused the same error when altering index, while 230 utf8 chars seems to be OK: ALTER TABLE wiki_categorylinks CHANGE COLUMN cl_sortkey cl_sortkey varbinary(230) NOT NULL default ''; fixed the error: mysql ALTER TABLE `wiki_categorylinks` DROP INDEX cl_sortkey, ADD INDEX cl_sortkey (cl_to, cl_type, cl_sortkey, cl_from); Query OK, 11510 rows affected (1.06 sec) Records: 11510 Duplicates: 0 Warnings: 0 No. That destroys the point of the index, you may as well just drop the index entirely if you do that. The field itself has to be shortened, not the index. The index has to cover the whole field to work correctly. (Although if your wiki is small enough, you might not notice the difference if the index isn't working.) Thanks for info, my mistake. This is not related to MyISAM, as far as I know -- it's probably related to the use of utf8 collation instead of binary. I've switched another wiki from 1.16 trunk (with InnoDB tables) to 1.17 trunk just few days before and there was no warnings or errors during execution of update.php. Has that patch-categorylinks-better-collation.sql already been incorporated into pre-release 1.16 ? It seems not - cannot find such patch in old backup. So I am not absolutely sure that it's unrelated to MyISAM (however this is another 1.15.4 wiki). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

One fast solution could be, to use transcluded pages, s.t. example\.org {{some transcluded page}} example\.com where some transcluded page consists of only foo bar will be treated by the extension as example\.org foo bar example\.com The advantages would be: * sbl gets arbitrarily smaller, so editing gets easier * rendered sbl looks still the same, because transclusion works anyway * admins may chose, whether they want to use that feature (i.e. downward compatibility!) * doesn't need much programming on sbl extension -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. A donation of 35 JPY is $0.42 USD. The suggested amounts are fine for CAD, AUD, GBP, and EUR, even though due to currency rates, the actual donation amount when converted will vary some. I'm not sure about the other listed currencies. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25528 Summary: noc.wikimedia.org should serve text files with a mime type specifying charset (text/plain; charset=utf-8) Product: Wikimedia Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Keywords: shell Severity: enhancement Priority: Normal Component: General/Unknown AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: bawolff...@gmail.com currently noc.wikimedia.org serves text files (like http://noc.wikimedia.org/conf/InitialiseSettings.php.txt ) as text/plain. It should be served as text/plain; charset=utf-8 since if the charset parameter is not included, rfc2046 says the document should be considered to be US-ASCII. [Bug 25530] New: Wikipedia logo on donate form takes you to private wiki

It says you must login to edit, etc. and is a private wiki. I know we don't want people to click away back to Wikipedia. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25464 --- Comment #2 from Ryan Kaldari rkald...@wikimedia.org 2010-10-15 01:26:32 UTC --- The cron has been lowered to 5 minutes for the time being. I added a note to http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Special:ContributionHistory/en to that effect. Also, I changed the header to say Donor comments from around the world instead of Real-time donor comments from around the world so we aren't lying. It'll change with the next deploy to foundation wiki. We're going to discuss tuning the cron and queue consumption tomorrow, so we may be lowering it further. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 25531] New: Category selection/removal and missing duplicate warning
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25531 Summary: Category selection/removal and missing duplicate warning Product: Wikimedia Version: unspecified Platform: PC URL: http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special :Uploaduselang=fromwikimedia OS/Version: Windows XP Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: Normal Component: General/Unknown AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: in...@aei.ca I've been using this form exclusively to upload thousands of images for a large Wikisource project, and there are three separate bugs - One old, and two recent bugs which appeared about 10 days ago. 1. The old bug is that when selected multiple categories for an image, the selections remained after the upload and were applied to the next image, unless I noticed and manually corrected it. When selected a single category, the new selection replaced the old. I no longer assign multiple categories, even though it would be beneficial. 2. Since the last 10 days or so, any category selected from the list remains unseen in the summary, and I end up with numerous categories unrelated to consecutive uploads. Please see the enclosed image. 3. There used to be a duplicate image warning when returning to the upload page (using the browser back button. This warning no longer appears, so I am not sure if the upload was completed. I reuse the same summary over and over again, and changing only minor details relating to the image. I am now uploading about 200 images per week and these bugs seriously slow down the process because I must remove the incorrectly applied categories, as you can can see from my activities. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. So if Talk:Foo is in a category, setting $wgCategoryPrefixedDefaultSortkey to false will cause it to be filed under F instead of T (assuming no alternate sortkey has been specified). However it will still be displayed as Talk:Foo no matter how $wgCategoryPrefixedDefaultSortkey is set. However, in regards to the core issue you are having: Showing the category prefix for each item on the subcategory list appears to be something thats new in 1.16. (specifically it seems to have been introduced in r53780 , potentially accidentally) I'm not sure if this is a behaviour we want or not. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
