For backward compatibility, the single-colon syntax is acceptable for pre-CSS3 selectors. The problem is the vendor specific notation of the pseudo element. Thus this is a bug in Firefox, which should generate a warning here, not an error. And as a matter of fact in Firefox/3.6.10 it actually is a warning. I see no reason to fix this, vendor specific css (as opposed to vendor-specific hacks) is just fine with me personally. I am going to work with the Circassian community in Israel to help them develop the Wikipedia in their language. The fallback language for their language in MediaWiki is Russian, which is good for the many Circassians that live in Russia, but for Circassians in Israel the preferred second language is Hebrew and for Circassians in Turkey and Jordan it's Turkish and Arabic, respectively. In the current state of affairs they get a mix of Circassian and Russian, which isn't helpful for them and they are forced to switch the whole interface to Hebrew, Turkish or Arabic. The problem with this is that it won't be apparent to them which messages still need translation. Oh, a couple notes on things that will make it hard to get into the current architecture (and no one ever seems to think of). Right now, each path comes back with a single resulting HTML page. Except, on mobile, we have up to 20 different pages that might come back as determined by the user agent. Some of them are 'similar' pages to each other (aka, most webkit style browsers get something similar with only small tweaks) and others are entirely different formats. That doesn't mean that you can't use PHP for it. Ruby presents no advantages there. But, it does mean that its extremely difficult to use the mainline wikipedia architecture as its kind of a 'simple case' setup. Oh right, and a ton of different mobile applications (and other third party applications) use the software's API. Its the API that our native phone apps use and others have taken to use it. So, most of the popular native phone apps on all platforms use the current site's API. Its pretty simple, but you have to make sure that you either communicate updates with all of them or mimic the current API as to not seriously break stuff. This works for repository, which are open. When you restricted the access to the repository, so that only a login user can read the images pages, you get the image shown in the mediawiki, but no image description. I follow the path and find out that in the HttpFunction.php works with curl, but there is no possibility to hand over a username and a password, or? If this sits around long enough, it might make for a really nice Google Summer of Code project, though. Except, on mobile, we have up to 20 different pages that might come back as determined by the user agent. Some of them are 'similar' pages to each other (aka, most webkit style browsers get something similar with only small tweaks) and others are entirely different formats. Are these differences documented? Also, is it possible currently to emulate these settings without faking the user-agent? Perhaps with a URL parameter of some kind for easier debugging? Having a way to A-B test would certainly make a rewrite easier. :-) Oh right, and a ton of different mobile applications (and other third party applications) use the software's API. Its the API that our native phone apps use and others have taken to use it. So, most of the popular native phone apps on all platforms use the current site's API. Its pretty simple, but you have to make sure that you either communicate updates with all of them or mimic the current API as to not seriously break stuff. Good point.
