Please describe exactly in which action sequence you see that. It seems escaped
in multiple places, and behave differently depending on the order of actions.

I have a couple of 'input type=datetimepicker' fields in forms - they all have
in common, that just entering a time is inacceptable - there can be just a date
and no time, or both filled in, but not just a time.
datetimepicker happily accepts that though, and saves 'TemplateParameter=
hh:mm' (hh:mm being the time entered) when I submit the form.
Would it be possible to somehow disallow entering just a time with
datetimepicker, or at least warn the user?

There is nothing like dateonly or datemandatory.

You can set the whole input to mandatory, but that would require both date and
time field to be set, i.e. it is not possible to leave the time field empty.

You could also combine the datetimepicker with a regexp input.

My current understanding of the situation is this: Both caching and message
handling are in most of their parts not language aware. That means, when for
any given language L, messages are taken from one of its (static and fixed)
fallback languages, X, Y, Z, these messages are both cached and rendered as if
they were in language L.

This is wrong but acceptable, because fallback languages rarely change, and so
do untranslated messages causing them to be used.

If any user can put their own fallback languages somewhere into the chain, some
fallback languages depend an arbitrary user viewing a page. Whether or not
fallback languages are used at all depends on arbitrary things like cache
state. If individual fallback languages are used, they may be cached, and thus
are shown to users having the same language L, but may have different fallback
languages. That is not acceptable.

We need, so to say, to make every message aware of the language it is in, and
caching must be done in a way that distinguishes existing language combinations
of cached data on a per message basis.

Please correct me, if I overlooked something.

Quick fix:
This issue was causing due to the drag action of the popup divs.
Commented the code and working on upgrade of jquery and jquery UI package

This seems to have been the result of an incomplete page creation: there was a
row in the page table, but it had page_latest=0 and no associated rows in the
revision table. I deleted the page row, and it looks like you should be able to
create the page now.

So here's what's going on:

Pages with parentheses and certain other special characters in their titles
have more than one correct URL: one with literal parentheses, one with
parentheses URL-encoded, and I'm sure mixes of those two are accepted as well.
However, when a page changes, Squid only purges the urlencoded URL and doesn't
purge the others. This means that anonymous users will see outdated versions of
these pages when they visit it through one of the other, unpurged URLs. Besides
possibly outdated content, these stale versions also contain pre-ResourceLoader
direct CSS links to 1.16 URLs, and of course those 404. For logged-in users,
Squid caching is bypassed, so they won't observe this behavior.

I'll talk to Mark about this issue.

Fixed in r83586 by removing the placeholder as soon as anything (keydown,
paste, drop) happens in the text box. This means that, if the search box is
focused before the placeholder plugin runs, the placeholder will still be
inserted, but it'll be removed once you start typing, so the placeholder text
will no longer be added to your search query.

event, but I don't have older versions of Firefox to test with anyway. Haven't
tested on IE either, will do that now.

r83587 tweaks it to work on IE. Tested with IE8 and IE8-in-IE7-compat-mode.

No, MediaWiki should be fixed to redirect to one canonical URL, per comment 17.
But even such a fix would take a while to take effect properly, because you
have to either actively purge the bad cache entries or wait for them to expire
(I believe the expiry is 30 days).

This is part of a bigger problem:

It appears to be a temporary result of new category sorting deployment. There's
a long running script that is still in the process of running on the largest
wikis (including commons). After the script is complete (hopefully later
today), much of the weirdness should clear up.

The code style issues raised before should be addressed now.   SQL is
parameterized, and the output is using an XML library.

The only remaining problem is that there remains a large overlap between this
and DPL.  Without a clear statement of what functionality can be removed and
what is required, no one can go forward with stripping out unnecessary
DPL-based functions.

Currently

$.escapeRE('ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ1234567890')

is returning

'\A\B\C\D\E\F\G\H\I\J\K\L\M\N\O\P\Q\R\S\T\U\V\W\X\Y\Z\1\2\3\4\5\6\7\8\9\0'

but it should not escape any letters.

I think it is necessary to escape the '-' in the regex:

/([\\{}()|.?*+-\^$\[\]])/g

because it is probably being understood as the interval from '+' to '\'.

This is not set in localsettings.php and in DefaultSettings it's set to
false.

There are no custom Media handlers installed as far as i know.

Strange thing is that it happens only with PDF and PNG, which are both in my
LocalSettings: $wgFileExtensions = array('avi', 'zip', 'png', 'gif', 'jpg',
'jpeg', 'doc', 'xls', 'mpp', 'pdf', 'ppt', 'tiff', 'bmp', 'docx', 'xlsx',
'pptx', 'ps', 'pages', 'numbers', 'key', 'sldprt', 'sldasm', 'slddrw',
'graffle', 'mov');

It's really strange because it even looks like it logs me out as i want to see
that file-pages. My name is gone and it only shows login at the top of the
screen. Loggin back in, tells me that it's not possible because of hijacking.

Translations I have made to the Vector extension in December are yet not
deployed in the live wiki.

I.e.:

Changes to other message groups (such as Core or Abusefilter) are up to date
and I can spot no problem in those groups.

branch counterpart.

I wonder if this is still the same issue.

fine now. It showed only six category members until I logged in. Now it's
showing 52. I imagine the category description page was simply cached.

Regarding Commons, these issues should mostly be resolved once the category
maintenance script finishes on s4. The category member counts (stored in the
category table) are going to be wrong until another maintenance script is
written/run to fix those counts, as far as I'm aware. I spoke with Roan about
this earlier.

When I visit a nonexistent subpage, for example
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Talk:Washington,_D.C./archive_1
it reports that the page does not exist and that Titles on Wikipedia are case
sensitive except for the first character.
However, the page
https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Talk:Washington,_D.C./Archive_1
does exist, and the only difference is the capital A in Archive.

The expected behavior is that the first character after a slash in a subpage
name should not be case sensitive.

Before changing this, have a look at how many pages exist where there ARE two
different pages differing only by the case of the first letter after a slash
(or multiple case-changes-after-slashes, for nested subpages).  Usually one
will be a redirect to the other one.  Please be sure to keep access to the one
that is not a redirect.

If you think my intuitive expectation about the behavior is not at all grounded
in reasonableness, we should at least update the page not found documentation
to note that ALL characters, even the first, in subpage names are case
sensitive.  I'd rather just have the intuitive behavior, though.

Multiple users at en.wikiquote report these symptoms in v1.17wmf1:
1) Upon saving and edit, the prior revision of the page is displayed, without
modifications made in the saved edit.
2) Upon saving a new page, the project does not have an article with this
exact name screen is displayed.

The problem is intermittent, with reports of frequency ranging from 20% to 90%
(higher for users having gadgets enabled). The problem is observed in multiple
browsers.

I think this would be the best solution for this recurrent issue.

Interwiki links at special pages are already possible, for example see
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spezial:Letzte_Änderungen
(MediaWiki:Recentchangestext includes the interwiki-link-template for the
German main page, which has the advantage that the interwikis are well
selected).

A cross-project search feature is favored all the time, a quick search gave
already Bug 25278, Bug 24658, Bug 22420 and Bug 1837 (not including
duplicates).

I think providing this at the already existing interwiki portlet is the most
intuitive and simple solution, which also does not need a multi-project content
search.

So I'm capturing this bug and giving it a more general approach: Pass the url
parameters at special pages on to the interwiki links (when there are some).
This should be comparatively easy, there's just one ambitious thing:
localised parameter values, for example go=Artikel, should be
internationalized or simplified to e.g. go=1 or fulltext=fulltext.

This feature is most needed at Special:Search, and the parameter replacement
could be hardcoded for that, but it would be even better if it worked on every
special page.

I'm always logged in and it happens to me. Several times today (March 9).

The following might be related: When I added a reply to a thread in Liquid
Threads on en.wiktionary, the page (Special:Newmessages) was immediately
updated, but a few seconds later a notice appeared that this thread has new
messages, click here to update, but of course my own reply was the only news.
I have not seen that behaviour in Liquid Threads before version 1.17.

I'm not sure that fixing this bug would actually make a difference in the
answer to these questions.  Removing the subpage feature of a namespace would
have the same effect whether the first letter was case-sensitive or
case-insensitive.  What happens now?  There might possibly be a few letters of
case sensitivity added in the event that the subpage feature is removed,
thereby breaking a few links, although a little redirect maker script (using
What Links Here) could address that if needed. 

Please post more of those possible unobvious breakages that you noted - as
many of them as you can think of.

The documentation, including what's shown on the nonexistent page message,
states that the first letter is case insensitive, and that's what I think most
users expect.  There are reasons for that decision, which you can probably find
in the discussion where it was set (although I don't personally know where that
is).  If you want to change that policy, it's a bigger issue probably out of
scope of this bug.  I'm just looking for consistent behavior.  The first
character after the slash should be case-insensitive.  I would not oppose
making the whole string case-insensitive, but I think others would.

I wrote a script (r83404) to purge all pages of a given namespace 

Example usage:
 maintenance/purgeNamespace.php wikimania2011wiki --namespace 14

You probably do not want to run it on enwiki NS_MAIN though :)

It only escapes capitals though, not lowercase characters.

The javascript test suite contains lower case characters to make sure normal
characters aren't escaped. I'll fix this asap and update the tests to include
all a-z A-Z and 0-9 for false positives.

Was a regression because of r83284 (which fixed bug 27848).

Fixed in r83610, also added tests to easily catch these regressions in the
future before they're committed.

Sometimes everything is ok, but sometimes we have to trigger ?action=purge
after edition. Many users complain that this is caused by FlaggedRevs, but I
see the same problem on namespaces not covered by FR.
