Please, do the following:
* Move the uploader flag from $wgAutopromote (wmgAutopromoteExtraGroups) to
$wgAutopromoteOnce['onView']:

$wgAutopromoteOnce['onView']['uploader'] = array( '',
  array( APCOND_EDITCOUNT, 20 ),
  array( APCOND_AGE, 14 * 86400 ),
),

* Change wgAutopromoteOnceLogInRC to false, otherwise it would flood our user
rights log
* Explicitly allow uploading files to sysop, closer and filemover groups

[Bug 33987] Stop leaking test data worse than a baby's diaper

We talked about that with Platonides some days ago. A possible way would be to
create a temporary file repository for each test and have it destroy itself
automatically through a __destructor call.

Still need to figure out how to create a FileRepo object though :-D

Worked well with Jenkins and ant but that caused issues when building the apps
with Eclipse. So brion reverted it with the reason : missing version,
fontsize in settings.

[Bug 34006] New: Python error when downloading perl script

Summary: Python error when downloading perl script
   Product: Wikimedia

  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Subversion
AssignedTo: rlan...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: foxysha...@hotmail.com
CC: innocentkil...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified

Visiting this url causes a python exception, thus I cannot see the file at all
without firing up SVN and creating a local repo, when I really just wanted to
glance at the perl code in the browser:

http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/ee/ee.pl?revision=72770view=markup
from
http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/extensions/ee/

Exception is:
UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode bytes in position 124-127:
invalid data

Updating ViewVC (currently over a year old, five versions behind) might fix it,
might not. Obviously ViewVC is configured or coded wrong in 1.1.8 if it's
trying to do any conversion at all on the file when viewing it raw.

Wikisource badly needs an inauthor search parameter, a standard feature on
most document databases. Ability to make efficient searches is so important to
knowledge stores that I am in favour of upgrading the importance of this issue
from low. I have moved it to normal - hope I am not acting out of turn,
imo it should be even higher.

When an item in the File: namespace is a redirect, the usage should still be
shown. This is most important on Commons where we need the global usage.

For example, I looked at
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:087882_cf786e35-by-Roger-May.jpg when
there was a file on that name and noted that it was used in several wikis. I
moved the file - now I cannot see which articles use it.

Suggestion to add a new magic word to display the avatar of a given user.

Such as: nowiki{{Special:Avatar/Username}} or {{#Avatar:Username}}/nowiki

This would enable much greater interaction with social profiles throughout the
wiki - in discussions, user listings, requests for adminship and other
community business.

Should be able to specify a dimension (such as
nowiki{{Special:Avatar/Username|200px}}/nowiki

Ideally would be able to do #ifexist on this to be able to determine whether an
avatar exists.

Assuming that buttons, headings, tabs and introtext will still be translatable

but wrap any wikcontent-language content in the right css classes instead (div

The usage is still tracked as usual. GlobalUsage does not ignore redirects.

Just as on normal File pages, a redirect page in the File namespace also has a
action menu with a link to Global usage.

--- Comment #1 from Krinkle krinklem...@gmail.com 2012-01-28 15:53:32 UTC ---
Yes, I've been wanting this for a long while.

* Remove inline code
* Move into regular module or into a dynamically generated module (i.e. a new
Module class)
* Change JS logic to allow multiple building stages (i.e. addButton should work
at any time not just before initialization)
* Make .init() a once-function, and enqueue into document-ready from the 1-line
init-module

Note that recently Brion has made some changes in the 1.19-dev version that
solved a few problems as well.

Note that these changes are not in 1.18 deployment but in trunk.

The set up of this right is a matter of 2 minutes and there is nothing what it
would break, only benefits, even if not many of them. I support this idea. I
don't really see any reason not to have it there. Actually due to fact that
having the ability to promote users as confirmed, has only benefits I guess it
would make sense to make it a default group for all wmf wikis, just like
administrator is.

[Bug 34010] Special pages can be in content language

(In reply to comment #1)
Assuming that buttons, headings, tabs and introtext will still be translatable
into user language and adapt to the user you shouldn't change the page
 language
but wrap any wikcontent-language content in the right css classes instead
 (div
 class=mw-content-{ltr,rtl} lang={..}).

This does not only affect appearance but also behavior of the language
converter: if my user language is en I cannot convert contents in
Special:FeedItem from zh-hans to zh-hant. Wrapping page in div won't help.

[Bug 21988] Improve Advanced Search form to include other advanced features

Wikisource badly needs an inauthor search parameter, a standard feature on
most document databases. Ability to make efficient searches is so important
 to
knowledge stores that I am in favour of upgrading the importance of this issue
from low. I have moved it to normal - hope I am not acting out of turn,
imo it should be even higher.

Note, for requesting an inauthor: search parameter, you should probably open a
new bug. This bug is more about making user friendly input boxes on the
advanced search page for the search options that already exist. (if you do file
a new bug, be sure to be clear on how you define the author of a document - I
imagine you are not referring to the wikiuser who created the page)

[Bug 34011] New: Semantic search fields

Request that ability to search on semantic fields is added to advanced search.
Most document databases allow search by author, title, date published,
publisher, ISBN etc. Particular problem on Wikisource where it is not possible
to search for a phrase in the works of a particular author (that is author of
the work, not of the wiki page).

Originally posted at bug 21988, advised to open new bug here.

Changing line 911 on SF_FormEdit.php to read:

Appears to fix the problem. Apparently the return class of the editor write

that this fix is probably not backwards compatible...

I agree. One thing I am curious about though, why is there a replacement of _
against happening for the 'default' parameter?
The 'default' parameter handling is happening in SMWResultPrinter class right
now, perhaps it should be moved to the parser function since it is more like a
basic feature of the parser function rather than a result format specific
feature.
Same for 'intro' and 'outro', which in addition should not be expanded in case
we expand the 'default'.

   Product: MediaWiki extensions
   Version: any
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: Unprioritized
 Component: Semantic MediaWiki
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: danwe...@web.de
CC: jeroen_ded...@yahoo.com, mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org
Classification: Unclassified

I think since Version 1.7 intro, outro and default don't trim() their
values anymore before applying them.
This makes the replacement of _ against useless. So either they should
trim() or the replacement should be omitted.
It would also be enough to just replace leading and tailing _ but not those
in the middle.
There is also a replacement of _ happening for the 'default' parameter, I
can't see why.

It might be worth re-thinking the whole concept of these parameters. On the
other hand, they are in use for a long time already and it might break stuff
changing their behavior more radically.

Anyway, there is also Bug 28075 which suggests to expand the 'default' only
when needed. I suggest doing the same for 'intro' and 'outro' and perhaps
moving the parameter handling to the parser functions instead of handling it
within the SMWResultPrinter.

'Intro' and 'Outro' are getting handled twice right now it seems, for one in
SMWQueryProcessor::getResultFromQuery() but also in SMWResultPrinter
