Good find. We should fix that as https://en.m.wikipedia.org works just fine.

[Bug 35216] New: __NOEDITSECTION__ not working with gallery

2012-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35216

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 35216
Summary: __NOEDITSECTION__ not working with gallery
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: 1.18.1
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: API
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: jimsaf...@gmail.com
CC: bryan.tongm...@gmail.com, roan.katt...@gmail.com,
s...@reedyboy.net, soxre...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
 Mobile Platform: ---

I found a rather obscure bug in action=parse. While using the __NOEDITSECTION__
behavior switch on wikitext that contains a heading and a gallery, the section
edit link is nevertheless returned. Take the following wikitext:

"
Headline
Image:Example.jpg|Caption1
"

Make the following request:

text=__NOEDITSECTION__%0A%3D%3D+Headline+%3D%3D%0A%3Cgallery%3E%0AImage%3AExample.jpg%7CCaption1%0A%3C%2Fgallery%3E&format=json&action=parse

The response includes the unwanted edit link:

[edit]

What's interesting is that removing the "|Caption1" from the wikitext fixes the
problem.

I just found out that a blocked admin could delete pages through Special:Nuke,
even as they can't delete individual pages through the regular method. This
shouldn't be happening.

Yes, the new Html::namespaceSelector allows giving an array of option values
that should be disabled and/or excluded.

Do we want to disable them or exclude them entirely?

I do some testing of the PhoenGap-based app in regular web browsers to save
time; Safari allows the cross-site requests by default and is a good one to
use.

Since we did special handling for the touch events, we're not handling regular
click events on the W and X buttons. Would be nice to clean that up.

nominally this is an enhancement request, but in reality it's a bug.
here goes: tipsy (the jquery plugin that allows for better tooltips) has a
"html" attribute, which allows displaying html (including links) in the
tooltip.

what's missing is the ability to tell the tooltip to stay up if the mouse
hovers over the tooltip itself (in addition to when the mouse hovers above the
control that "owns" this tooltip). this is needed if one wants to use html
tooltips with clickable picese - it's very frustrating to the users to move the
mouse from the control to the clickable item just to have the tooltip
disappear. using long "delayOut" is very unsatisfying compromise - it forces a
choice between short delay (some users are not quick enough to click in time)
and long delay (annoying tooltips that do not go away when you don't want them
any more).

this hampers the usefulness of tipsy greatly, and in some cases forces
developers to handle the "show" and "hide" of the tooltip themselves, resorting
to disgusting mechanisms such as setTimeout().

just one example:
enwiki has a very useful gadget named "popup".
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-popups.js
this gadget's code is sheer monstrosity - it weighs more than 1/4 ton(!) and
7600 lines(!!).

using jquery and tipsy, one can easily implement this functionality with nice
and tight code using way less than 1000 lines weighing less than 50K, but one
thing that's required is a way to tell tipsy to stay up when the mouse hovers
over the tooltip.

(not really the reason for this bug, just an example of useful tool where the
tooltip contains clickable items, and staying up on hover is absolutely
required)

tipsy has a "trigger" option that accepts "manual" or "hover" values. please
add "hover_tooltip" or somesuch that will behave like "hover" does, but will
keep the tooltip open when moving the mouse from the control to the tooltip
itself.

if this is to be done it probably should be done in mediawiki - the tipsy
development seems to be dead for several years now.

[Bug 35211] #ask behaviour change when querying for one page (SMW 1.7.1)

Markus, did you change anything that might have caused this? I'm thinking of
the "allow for duplicate printouts" change.

I actually remember fixing something like this two or there months back. Not
sure if it broke again or if this is something else...

[Bug 35211] New: #ask behaviour change when querying for one page (SMW 1.7.1)

Bug #: 35211
Summary: #ask behaviour change when querying for one page (SMW

 Platform: All

Status: NEW
 Severity: minor
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Semantic MediaWiki

ReportedBy: mediaw...@kghoffmeyer.de
CC: jeroen_ded...@yahoo.com, mar...@semantic-mediawiki.org
Classification: Unclassified
 Mobile Platform: ---

Since probably SMW 1.7.0 the behaviour of #ask changed when querying for one
page, e.g.

produced "3,391,409 people squeeze into the 891.85 km² of Berlin." in SMW
<1.7+, now it produces "Berlin people squeeze into the 3,391,409 of Berlin."
SMW >1.7+

As you do this with #show

nothing changed: "3,391,409 people squeeze into the 891.85 km² of Berlin."

A work-around would be

or

This may be inspected on [1].

I do not know if this is a bug since there are other ways to get the intended
results. However I do not know if this was done intentionally since it breaks
consistency between #ask and #show.

We'll soon switch to creating labs/gerrit accounts via labsconsole. When
creating users via that form, it'll email them their password. It would be nice
to show them a welcome page when they first login, if possible, that gives them
info about how gerrit, labs, etc. works.

Antoine is going to run a script to get those Subversion committers' USERINFO
records that have some kind of "realname" or the like & have an email, and turn
it into a CSV (svn username, realname, and email), then I will do the gruntwork
of unobfuscating the emails and giving that improved data to Ryan Lane. Ryan
will then autocreate Gerrit accounts for all those people and we'll publicize
that on wikitech-l etc and suggest that those people try to go to the
specialpage to reset their passwords and login.

The point of this is to make it easier for our existing committers, and to
reduce the number of one-off account creations we have to do.

Following a discussion with Ryan, there is no point in adding volunteers or

Fun fact! IE 9 is going through the 'Mozilla/Opera' code path in

Seems to be the focus() call that screws up the scrolling, though I'm not 100%

[Bug 35208] SMW: "Further results" does not respect "named args".

2012-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #1 from Van de Bugger 2012-03-13 22:19:59

However, the patch does not solve the problem completely. There is one more
problem in name of the first column. Following inline query

passes "?main" parameter to template "Item". But when the same template is
called from "Special:Ask", it does not receive "?main" parameter.

Adding "mainlabel" changes the situation a little bit:

In such a case template receives "main" parameter, but it is plain text in
inline query and link in Special:Ask.

I believe the template should receive exactly the same parameters in both
cases.

Result looks ok, but following "further results" link shows nothing. I found
that link to Special:Ask does not include "named args" parameter. I fixed

2012-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35138

--- Comment #4 from Dhaval 2012-03-13 21:53:41 UTC ---
Please change વિકિસ્ત્રોત to વિકિસ્રોત (wherever it appears)
The former though more commonly known spelling, its incorrect. The gramatically
correct word/spelling for English 'source' is વિકિસ્રોત. Will correct the same
in logo as well and update it.

Extension tag hooks cannot be nested (not that parser functions *can* be
nested.)

Duping this to classic bug 1310 where there's also some more recent discussion.

Is the fix to copy and use the below instead? :/

Html::namespaceSelector( array(
'selected' => $selected,
'all' => $all,
'label'=> $label,
), array(
'name' => $element_name,
'id'=> 'namespace',
'class' => 'namespaceselector',
) );

There's 11 usages of Xml::namespaceSelector

[Bug 35180] Direct linking of RDF specifications using GET parameter does not work (SMW 1.7.1)

I just tested r113728 and the "page" parameter seems to work now. I am not sure
about "recursive", "backlinks" and "xmlmime" though, since the schema does not
change when I vary the different options (0/1) etc.

Unfortunately the fix introduced another problem. As I proceed to
Special:ExportRDF I get the RDF of this special page instead of the interface
to enter the pages I need for RDF export.

The link points to a file (mobileRedirect.php) that lives on the WMF cluster
but is not packaged with the extension.

The functionality of mobileRedirect.php should be integrated with the extension
and made useful for non-WMF use cases.

I can't replicate the bug anymore.

Here is what I did:

1) svn switch to trunk/phase3
2) Disable caching
3) $wgMainCacheType = CACHE_NONE
4) Tested the bug again, it was gone.
5) svn switch back to tags/REL1_19beta1/phase3
6) Tested the bug again, it was still gone.

So I'm guessing it was a caching issue. Closing as Invalid.

Essentially that's no different to how the Windows app works - You still enter
your username and password into the application. Just for the web app, you're
giving a remote server your details too...

[Bug 35202] New: Pending changes diff is centered

Bug #: 35202
Summary: Pending changes diff is centered
 Product: MediaWiki extensions
 Version: any
 Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: FlaggedRevs
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org

Created attachment 10229
 --> https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=10229
Pending changes (collapsed) diff is centered

"Pending changes diff" text is centered (see the attachment).

To recreate the problem:
* have editor flag
* check "Show the pending changes diff when viewing the latest pending
revision" in preferences
* visit any page with pending changes and click "show those changes"

Depending on how you get to the page the diff table is inside either
div.flaggedrevs_preview or div.flaggedrevs_basic both of which have
"text-align:center" in ext.flaggedRevs.basic.css

As a temporary workaround we had to add this to ru:MediaWiki:Common.css:
#mw-fr-stablediff {text-align: left}

Have you tried getting stuff enabled on Wikipedia? ;)

An extension would be fine, but when I looked at it before, there was no way to
modify the list, so there'd have to be some core hacking at a minimum..

Thanks! Wouldn't hold my breath. First we will have a discussion whether it
needs to go into a bundled extension or core; Then it might be backported to
the stable branch and later into what we are running in production. Then wait
for the release.

You know the process, don't you?:)

[Bug 35201] New: IE-9 on several wikipedias cause edit page to jump to top when using edit toolbar

2012-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35201

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 35201
Summary: IE-9 on several wikipedias cause edit page to jump to
top when using edit toolbar
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: 1.19
 Platform: All
OS/Version: Windows 7
Status: NEW
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Page editing
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: fur.hew...@gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
 Mobile Platform: ---

summary: IE-9, use any editor toolbar button that insert text cause the whole
page to scroll to top. if you are in "show preview" or "show diff" mode, it
means you have to scroll back down to see the editor, because the preview/diff
push the textarea lower on the page.

reproduction instruction:

1) Use IE-9
2) make sure you are not in "compatibility mode" (important! this does not
happen in "compatability mode")
3) go (as registered or as anon) to nlwiki, enwiki, hewiki or arwiki
4) press "random article" enough times to find an article longer that one
screen (i.e., an article where the vertical scrollbar shows for the article
itself)
5) go to "edit"
6) press "show preview". now, in order to see the edit window, you need to
scroll down.
7) press any of the toolbar buttons that add text to the edit window. note that
the page scroll to top, and you do not see the edit window any more.

the whole page scrolls to the top, and you have to scroll back down to see the
edit textarea again.

a workaround is to use "compatibility mode", but on any RTL wiki, using
compatibility mode means you have to resort to "old" (non-beta) toolbar, which
means anons lose the toolbar completely, because of bug #34885.

Yay for upstreaming them.

I'm not sure whether this is worth making core hacks to put in place till it's
committed upstream and available in Bugzilla releases

[Bug 35200] New: unreadable on high contrast theme

2012-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Web browser: ---
Bug #: 35200
Summary: unreadable on high contrast theme
 Product: MediaWiki
 Version: unspecified
 Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows 7
Status: UNCONFIRMED
 Severity: normal
 Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Device compatibility
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: yles...@hotmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
 Mobile Platform: ---

Created attachment 10228
 --> https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=10228
Screenshot of unreadable maths on high contrast theme.

When using a high contrast theme on Windows 7 (and maybe other OSs/versions),
designed for visually impaired users, the output from "" tags is almost
unreadable. This is on Firefox with "Menu->Tools->Options->Content->Fonts &
Colours->Advanced->Allow pages to choose their own colours" disabled (and the
same under the "Colours" button above the "Advanced" button, instead opting to
use the default OS theme.

The theme in the OS is "High Contrast #1" - a default theme with yellow writing
on a black background for better reading. The issue seems to come from the
PNGs used to render the maths formulas having transparency and assuming that
the background is always white. Attached is a screenshot of how these appear.
This seems more serious than normal issues with custom themes given that it is
a default theme designed to improve accessibility and instead restricts it.
