What is common sense for ones isn't especially evident for others. For example, someone could say PDF is a format widely spread, virtually nobody has OpenOffice, LibreOffice, so ODT is an unknown format. The local discussion would allow to reply to these remarks (like in this example the recent versions of Microsoft Office reads ODT or to have a debate What about the readers having nor LibreOffice nor OpenOffice nor Microsoft Word on their computer?). It also share the roles: it's up to the the wiki community to decide what they wish, and not to the developer to see if this would fill the need of the project. Would be nice, but I don't see a way to guarantee that this can always be done without loading the actual content. That would be expensive, and thus not a good thing to do in potentially long listings like RecentChanges. Also, in that case, it would make more sense to put the method into WikiPage, not Title. I've got a few ideas:
1/ Prerequisite: update config $wmgArticleFeedbackv5BlacklistCategories to also
include the whitelisted AFTv4 categories.
Whitelisted AFTv4 articles should always show AFTv4 form, even if they're in
AFTv5 lottery. So we should AFTv5 blacklist the AFTv4 whitelisted entries to
make sure they're not shown twice.
2/ Since AFTv5's check is now in PHP (as well), we can manipulate more data. We
could, on applicable pages winning AFTv5 lottery, clear out the AFTv4 lottery,
like this (in beforePageDisplay() in ArticleFeedbackv5.hooks.php):

Disadvantage: we have to wait until the page's cache has been rebuilt
3/ Once we're certain that AFTv5 can be loaded (in JS), remove the elements

and then remove parts of it. AFTv4 binds aren't removed, etc...
I'd suggest to add in all 3, and after 30 days (when cache should be fully
rebuilt) remove 3/ again. This should make sure that cache does not affect our
code (option 3/) and our codebase remains clean (removing 3/ after 2/ has
been picked up)
Any suggestions/remarks on above idea?

However, to maintain the status quo of this being a two-click operation, there should be a confirmation page/dialog shown. * undo: undo the effect of some earlier edit, without undoing later edits (reverse patch). The workflow for this is simple enough, but ItemHandler::merge3() needs to be implemented for this to work. * revert (admin only): rollback all revisions by the same user, starting at the current position. This is probably trivial, since it should work exactly like it works for text. Most of them have been migrated to operations/puppet.git and are now deployed through puppet in /usr/local/bin . We end up with duplicated scripts, some of them being totally outdated. That can cause troubles whenever someone has in its PATH /home/wikipedia/bin before /usr/local/bin. Well that is probably just me anyway :-] As an example, the dologmsg script is used to log a message on a public IRC channel. On edit supply the last observed revid to the API which then supplies the revid to doEditContent. If the edit succeed the new revid is reported back to the requester. The requester then knows that the old revid can be replaced by the new revid, so it updates other revids including the one used for the background. If a new revid is not reported back there is an edit conflict. All non-changed fields can then be updated anew but the user interface must somehow show the conflict for the specific field if that is the one he is editing. 'OldChangesListRecentChangesLine' works for RecentChanges, but needs a heavy lookup. It is already other heavy actions there. Not sure if a little more really makes any big difference. Because several accesses this page at the same time I would propose to simply use the memcached for caching the title-language-label-lookup. 'LogLine' works for several logging pages. It also have a load issue, but is used much more seldom than the recent changes. Not sure if there is anything to gain on caching values.. 'ShowSearchHitTitle' should be used too.
