Using jQuery.byteLimit with callback can go into a endless loop, when the text
returned by the callback is longer than the maximum.
Use the following command and type some text into the input:
$( 'input /' ).appendTo( '#firstHeading' ).byteLimit( 5, function( text ) {
return 'longText'+text; } );
Maybe you have to load the byteLimit function before, use this command:
mw.loader.load('jquery.byteLimit');

MaxMind does provide an IPv6 database but it's of subpar quality compared to their IPv4 database (that we already use). However, there's a larger issue: our DNS infrastructure needs to be changed; we currently use PowerDNS' GeoIP module (which was written by Mark specifically for this use and merged upstream) which doesn't support IPv6 at all. It's not just a matter of replacing a file on the filesystem. And for the questions : 1) Nope, I assume it's the main mobile front end as fas as I know (m.wikipedia.org), I'm not aware of that beta. 2) All cache cleared, and all other data, including cookies etc... and the behavior is the same. 3) Nope, it does the same behavior, the browser crash. 4) Log is from phone's browser, using an option in the browser settings/general menu for logging errors on Java/ECMA scripts. Log itself is what's shown once pressed the section expand tab just after crashing. Note: Tested also with opera mobile for symbian and the error is not present, work as expected. I created MediaWiki:Gadget-someBug.js on testwiki with
mw.loader.using([ 'mediawiki.util', 'jquery.placeholder', 'jquery.spinner' ],
function(){
console.log( 'Ok! All modules were loaded!', arguments )
}, function(){
console.log( 'Ops! Error with mw.loader.using! ', arguments )
});
and then enabled gadget-someBug at
https://test.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets
After that, if I go to
https://test.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-someBug.js?action=editdebug=1uselang=enuseskin=vector
using Google Chrome 22.0.1229.94.
my console do not show any message from the gadget (and no error either). This
means none of the callbacks were called.
My common.js was empty during the tests.
I also tested doing one of the following changes in the URL above:
* action=history: bugged;
* uselang=fr: bugged;
* useskin=monobook: bugged;
* debug=0: Ok! All modules were loaded! [];

It seems to improve things but not completely fix. Special:Recentchanges seems to be especially unsticky (the setlang param) in both Firefox and Chrome. In Chrome, I switched my lang to Arabic, clicked around, then back to English. The recent changes page is stuck in Arabic. In Firefox, Recent changes is still stuck in Norwegian but the other pages seem to be behaving better.
