This was supposed to have happened on June 8th, but details about it are a bit scarce. One of the things entailed in the migration is the deprecation of the current status.net API with adminbot uses to post messages to identi.ca that then get forwarded to Twitter. Twitter also retired version 1.0 of its API, obsoleting some of the Python Twitter API libraries in Ubuntu Precise. The future of identi.ca seems rather uncertain and the underlying protocol of the new pump.io API probably has a kink or three. It probably makes sense to ditch it and post to Twitter exclusively. (We have several hundred people following the SAL via Twitter.) IMO a bug because it is possible to transclude templates etc. into some of
these special pages through MediaWiki messages. If you would like to get a
preview of how it will look like at this page, the best way is using
action=parse.

Braindump:
* The AFTv5 form shows up, then is hidden again immediately. Only in
non-compatibility mode, other mode (as well as IE8 IE7 work fine)
* F12 developer tools shows that AFTv5 is actually there, but has a
display:none
* Getting rid of the display:none using F12 developer tools, displays AFTv5
again, and it's fully functional
Temp. conclusion here: none of AFTv5's can the form be displayed on this page
is the reason for the form not to be there; it is actually there.
* Judging from F12 developer tools, the display:none is on .articleFeedbackv5.
The one in jquery.articleFeedbackv5.css, line 12. Wrapper inside an @media
print {}
At this point, perhaps ResourceLoader is messing up the CSS, dropping or making
something invalid out of the @media print (since it obviously not only displays
on print). However, it should also be erroneous on other browsers.
* Capturing requests, I find ResourceLoader returns this: @media
print{.articleFeedbackv5{display:none}} - looks like perfectly valid correct
CSS to me
At this point, I'm out of potential culprits. The CSS that is making the form
disappear seems perfectly valid should not be applied on a non-print media.
I'd blame IE9, but a quick google doesn't reveal similar issues.

The AJAX'ifying happens in mediawiki.page.watch.ajax.js[1]. As we don’t want to serve different JS modules based on the user rights, we would have to add some kind of switch to the module that won’t execute the function then. We *could* use the mediaWiki.user module[2] to get the rights of the current user, but that would involve another API call, so that’s not a good idea. We could also either add some switch class to the body tag which the ajax module filters for, or define another config variable that indicates if the write API is available right now or not. But I’m not sure what the official stance on adding such things is for MediaWiki. And then another option would be to add a noapi class to all the generated watch links which then again could be filtered for. What do you think? What would be an acceptable solution?
