Tim, should this be filed as separate bug report? The log was (re)enabled and
then disabled as too spammy on April 24: a1c62a08.
Currently we have:

MWSearch_body.php

Maybe the second log could be removed/renamed so that we can at least have some
way to count the first.

It is possible to install a monitoring for the htcp purge requests?
It take some days to be found and that means many readers gets old versons,
that is bad.

A cron job with a script is needed, that pings from the web server to the cache
server to look, if that network connection is still active and send mails or
give another warning, when it is not.
Or a other way to found outage here. Thanks.

I'm sorry for the confusing bug report but the issue is quite confusing in
itself. I'm adding all the three different issues in the bug summary and
raising severity; bug 54776 suggests this may be causing a few hundreds lost
files per month.

Yes, that's my suspicion as well. Sometimes uploaded files go in the wrong
place (multiple files under the same title) and when you fix it (by reuploading
with Special:Upload) old versions sometimes disappear: bug 40304.
There are peaks for every WikiLovesMonuments so it must be related to
UploadWizard uploads, not – say – bot uploads.

Adjusting severity: this is not "normal", at least major (or even "critical" as
in practice we don't rebuild the index so that search data may be "lost" for
years), however if more work is needed I doubt it's going to happen now that
focus is on CirrusSearch.

This is pretty confusing. I looked at [[mw:Extension:Chameleon]] for
documentation after reading bug 54772 because the bug was filed under

sreenshot of a page which has the error.

When i choose "always render png" for maths in preferences, a lot of code
doesn't render in tamil wikipedia. I get "Math Failure" message. I have
attached a screenshot of it. If i choose the "MathJax" option, there is no
problem.

Sure. I'm just developing those features. 
What does ത്ര mean?
If it's a word with a conventional meaning instead of a variable it should be
written as \text{ത്ര}^3
This will help blind people in the future to understand the content.

For example the first equation on 
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Body_mass_index
is written as
\mathrm{BMI} 
| =
\frac{\text{mass}(\text{kg})}{\left(\text{height}(\text{m})\right)^2}
This prevents wrong spacing between the letters BMI and mass and makes the
equation accessible for disabled people and search engines.

Sorry about that - it's actually not just "show on select" that's broken, but
everything Javascript-related, as a result of this new patch. It's a known

Yes that is perfect. But some letters like ത്ര still not working in wikisource.
But I just found that it is possible to avoid this by adding extra {}, like:
{ത്ര}^3.

And also default PNG mode is still not working.

I just hit this issue trying to manually run a database report. The lack of a
namespace table is a bit painful. I imagine this issue is preventing a number
of database reports from being moved to Labs. Hrm. Perhaps everyone should just
query the MediaWiki API themselves. Hmm.

Right now we have a total of 223095 commits with 62631 described as merged
reviews. So if we use gerrit data we have 28% of total code contribution
activity covered. 

If we analyze data from 2012 we have 61050 merged reviews from a total of
104399 total commits.

It appears that the caret may also appear before its actual position. See the

I would recommend to use a construct like

a^\text{ه از فارسی نوی}

this will work for future versions of the math extension.
The text is then passed as normal text to the browser without to be modified by
the math extension.
Is that acceptable.

There is a partial solution for that:

You can use the MathML (LaTeXML) rendering mode.
The downside is that users that have browsers that are not support HTML5 fully
(i.e. MathML) have to use enabling technology like MathJaX or MathPlayer to
display math correctly.
But it's even worth. The browsers don't even know that they can not display
MathML reasonably well and just output the text elements. cf

So it's hard to filter browsers that support reasonably well MathML rendering
and those that don't.

We tried to convert the texvc output via pdflatex to svg. For most cases that
works fine. However there are lot of corner cases and issues and it seems not
to be a very elegant solution.
Our main idea for the future, is to convert MathML to SVG to overcome the
browsers weaknesses at the server side. However at the moment we are not aware
of a tool that can do the job correctly.

Windows7 X64 SP1
Google Chrome 29.0.1547.76 m

Steps:
1 Go to https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Module:Sandbox&action=edit
2 Make sure CodeEditor is enabled
3 Copy-paste the following text: -- अगर मैं कहूँ
4 Try to take the caret to the end of the text

What happens:
Caret moves much ahead than the visible end of text. It probably assigns one
visible space to one unicode character with no knowledge of glyphs.
This also means that the selection appears at one place while the text is at
another place, effectively meaning that the user has no idea what text is being
selected.

I've only tried hindi, but I'm guessing the issue would also show up with any
other indic scripts.

and adds an orthogonal option to use MathJaX (a check-box) independent of the
rendering mode. Thus the user will see the the images immediately before
MathJaX is loaded and tries to replace them with something better. 
Technically, we introduce the user option 'mathJax' in the following way to the
preferences.

'type' => 'toggle',
'label-message' => 'mw_math_mathjax',
'section' => 'rendering/math',
);

I'm not sure if users that are not signed in can somehow find that option... At
least I did not found the section 'rendering/math' when I logged out.

Maybe we can add a context menu to the png images in a later step... once
MathJaX 2.3 is released.

Similar to bug 8662 and bug 17569 so information there may be useful.

When a customer replies to us, we get (in our personal email) a "follow-up
notification" that is automatically sent by the OTRS software.  Users should
only receive said notification if they were the actual current owner of the
ticket.  

There have been repeated reports since our software upgrade last month that
users are receiving follow-up notification emails for tickets that they are not
and have never been associated with. The most recent occurrence of this bug was
just moments ago, [[Ticket:2013092710015732]] for reference.

I've checked the queue settings for this ticket (and for previous reports of
this issue) and they all seem to be in order.  Namely, the "Ticket lock after
follow up" setting is marked 'Yes', which is the way to avoid this issue
otherwise.

I believe thumbnails are handled differently, in that the underlying file at
the requested size is created if it doesn't already exist and is then served
for subsequent requests (possibly with more caching in front). Whereas there
isn't any "underlying file" for articles, it's regenerated (although not

Just did a fresh pull of SemanticForms and the 'show on select' functionality
seems to not be working right. I think this is probably a Javascript error in
the new dynatree code added in d17cdb5e04f382614e1590500f3ac85de94626f0. 

The following error is shown in Javascript console:

Exception thrown by ext.semanticforms.dynatree: 'undefined' is not a function
(evaluating 'nodeSelection.dynatree("getTree").getSelectedNodes()')

Reverting back to 47fbce52bbd9f1c466162b264e5ab38141d96014 restores the show on
select functionality, further pointing to the new dynatree feature.

Right-click and 'open in new tab' works for me (tested in Firefox 24), but it'd
be better to have something findable in the edit toolbar (or at *least* the
link edit dialog) with a 'regular' click.

Right-click or long-press for context menus aren't something everybody knows
well or jumps straight to.

Those were just IPv4 in IPv6 addresses.
Netmapper seems to be aware of them, while varnish acls were not.

I'm going to Be Bold and 'wontfix' this; the little link icons are awful and
notoriously tricky to get right (case issues, parameters on URLs, URLs that
look like files but are description pages, etc).

If people want pretty link formatting for specific purposes, consider using a
template or explicit style marker for making links in the style you want.

Going through old bugs...

I'm going to go ahead and close this out -- interwikis and templates do a
better job at this than URL links, as inserting direct s pointing at
'doi:something' would be useless for 99% of users.

Correct. The TMH implementation for auto conversion does encode webm from
MPEG-4, it does not throw away or hide originals.

Going through old bugs... I'm going to go ahead and close this out as this is a
CSS styling issue, and doesn't require any built-in support or syntax.

Some templates also invoke CSS multi-column support for a similar effect.

Perviously the audio player would take up the target size and display a
playhead if it could. 

Somehow its no longer respecting the width provided. We should fix.

Default build appears to create a command-line app 'mudraw' as well as the GUI
viewer:

Sounds like it wouldn't be hard to support as a replacement or supplement to
gs.

I think the original request was to convert the file and throw away the
original asset, not to transcode the unfree format. (Not sure if that's a good
idea, but I don't think that is what tmh does)

The image size limits applies on pages if you use [[file:foo.png|thumb]]

I agree with doing this client side if we do it. Otoh if the use case is not
wanting to download big images, that wouldn't work.

I would be opposed to adding another pref which the parser cache would have to
vary on (the doing it server side)
