             Bug #: 42406
Summary: Selecting a duration from dropdown on Special:Block
                    shouldn't move all the rest
           Product: MediaWiki
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: enhancement
          Priority: Unprioritized
         Component: User blocking
        AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
        ReportedBy: federicol...@tiscali.it
    Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

Since a short while ago, selecting a duration from the dropdown in
Special:Block makes the free text field below it disappear.
This is good for clarity, but it also means that all the fields, checkboxes and
buttons below move up; and this isn't even an immediate change, it takes some
time. Therefore, before confirming the block (or selecting other options), I
have to spend much more time than I used to and I'd like to, especially for
routinary blocks with prefilled fields.
The duration field should e.g. disappear leaving a blank row so that all the
rest of the page doesn't move and after selecting the duration I can
immediately move the cursor directly to the confirm button and click it with no
risk of it being somewhere else or freezed.
