I also whipped up a script to loop through all contributions since this became a problem that are missing /all/ of the custom data fields associated with contributions (with the exception of donor comments). It sets the default values for the contributions in question. The script also echoes out the contribution ID as well as a serialized JSON object of the contribution prior to the update in case we need to roll back. Unfortunately, only the first 14 contributions recorded do no have serialized objects representing their original state (I didn't think of adding it in until after running a few tests on the live data). But for the most part, we have backed up data for the updated contributions.
