I bit more digging has exposed that this is not a wide spread problem for all eqiad1-r users. The part of CommonSettings.php that allows anon edits from the 10.68.0.0/16 is gated by the $wmgAllowLabsAnonEdits feature flag. That flag is only set to true for wikis

sudo: /usr/bin/sudo must be owned by uid 0 and have the setuid bit set should never happen. This is pretty obviously a corrupted LXC container. If you run vagrant destroy -f && vagrant up && vagrant import-dump ... can you recreate this failure?

I think my patches above take care of the Cloud Services/Data Services side of this (DNS and views support). The scripts I patched will still need to be run to create/update the DNS records. I don't think that anything in the views will actually change as a result

labsdb1003 will be shutdown in 2 weeks. The "damage" prior to that is just that there is a view available on the wikidatawiki.labsdb database that points to non-existent tables. In the longer term we should make some

@Legoktm nailed it. If wikibase is going to use the same process as the rest of the Foundation production deployed extensions it needs to go all in on that including in the CI chain and the library update process. The current system can probably be improved
