[Wikidata] From the game to the competition

2016-02-06 Thread David Abián
Hi folks,

It's fantastic to see that we have such interesting tools to contribute
to Wikidata like Magnus' games.

With Wikidata Game and The Distributed Game as a base, I think we could
go further and get a tool that serve, not only as a game, but as a real
competition. In particular, with the following additions and a few
suggestions, I believe we could celebrate great /in situ/ Wikidata
competitions over the world:

* A chronometer with a start and a scheduled end while contributions are
registered for the contest.
* Some quorum (e.g., three) so that edits in the contest are only
applied to Wikidata if that quorum of people agrees on an answer.
* A scoring system that only provide points (or much more points) to
those who get a quorum. This avoids people answering randomly while they
destroy Wikidata and earn more and more points.
* A way to show the same questions to the quorum number of participants
during the competition.
* A real-time ranking in the competition scope.
* A way to manage the list of participants and to register an
administrator, or multiple ones, for every contest.

Would this be a good idea? Would anyone like to develop some of these
features?

Regards,

should spend serious consideration on making this BIG.

I don't think we have currently anything, we could have something like
"subclass/instance of" "male clothing" or "female clothing" but these
things are very culture-specific (including changing within the culture
with a passage of time) so I'm not sure it would be easy to represent
this in Wikidata.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T75908: Avoid lost link for deleting pages which is later restored

2016-02-06 Thread Thryduulf
Thryduulf added a comment.

I think one possible way of doing this would be to store in the local wiki page
metadata the associated Wikidata ID. The existence of this could be used as a
trigger to display the dialog suggested by Magioladitis above.

If it has been associated with more than one data item in the past, it could
list all or only the most recent.

If the Wikidata item has been linked to something else on the same wiki in the
meanwhile, then I think something should be promtped at the Wikidata end (note
to whoever next edits the entry? post on the item talk page? entry in a list?)
for a WD contributor to review which is the better link.
