In case it may have something to do with a particular trait of a lexeme, I
have encountered it on L4177 (you'll see my (User:Ijon) recent edits there,
after which the display returned to normal (but not before).

+1 to this needing a fix. Adding synonyms etc. to sense is extremely
laborious now, and only the most stubborn would actually do so.
We are losing a lot of potential enriching of Lexemes.

@AGutman-WMF - yes, I think your approach makes sense. It would be good to
auto-suggest those custom language codes in data-entry.

@daniel - this would work very well for Hebrew, for example, where the two
orthographies have a formal name known to all speakers, but less well when the
variations are due to lack of standardization, as in the Bangla case mentioned
by @Mahir256.

Can this be resolved some time soon? Without looking into the codebase, it
sounds like it shouldn't be too involved a matter, so perhaps suitable for
people interested in contributing an easy fix, so can be offered to newer

I think postponing //any// solution to after we have a scaling strategy comes
down too strongly against user needs. A number of trusted users -- including
yours truly -- occasionally need to run queries that would go 20%-50% over the

Not quite, though it could accommodate the Hebrew case.
For the record, in Hebrew spelling is quite standardized, but there are **two
different orthographies** -- one with diacritics (making //matres lectionis//
unnecessary) and one without (having more //matres

Experience suggests that stabilizing the Magnus tools would be a likelier path than getting WMF to allocate feature development resources.
AFAIK Ops has been working with Magnus to stabilize the VM for PetScan, which has become a core, day-to-day working tool for many

Thanks for the insight on the difference between those two versions. That is indeed usable, for this particular count.
But to the more general request? We do need some way to work around the timeout, sometimes, without abusing our personally knowing @Smalyshev.TASK

Yes. Another example of a query timing out without lots of output is this simple count of scholarly articles (millions)

?article wdt:P31/wdt:P279* wd:Q13442814

I think such counts are very reasonable queries to occasionally want
