If the references are rendered in a simple way to references vie the Cite extension then this should just work (mobile displays these in drawers that appear at the bottom of the page) Currently mobile does this in a hacky way, which could be extended to cover wikidata (we look for an elements with ids in an ol element with class references) Ideally we could use data-id's here to relate the text '1 reference' that points to associated references to turn this into a link that displays them and standardise some of the code here with core. Displaying references next to the statement inside the article itself would really clutter the article and render it unreadable. Lydia_Pintscher added a comment. Exactly. We don't have it in Wikibase itself so far for two reasons: - Wikibase should not have any knowledge about special properties. Here it would have to know that some properties turn their value into links. We'd like to avoid this as much as possible. - We didn't have a proper way to store the URL used for expanding the identifier. We have that now with statements on properties. So we will need to figure out a way to do that in Wikibase as well but I am not sure how yet. Until then it'd be good to get this working with the gadget. It should be possible to migrate this Gadget into a module and add the dependencies: AuthorityControl[ResourceLoader|default|**dependencies=wikibase.api.RepoApi**]|AuthorityControl.js Another way would be to add a wrapper JS module for it (to make sure, that the dependencies are loaded) and load the Gadget with mw.loader.load( 'gadget-url' ); But it should be configurable to be a specific module for wikidata. They make it really difficult to debug issues and lack a code review process which is pretty important when it comes to exposing JS code to mobile users. I think if we can find a way to do this on the backend in a generic way this would be the best solution for the long term lifespan of this project. TASK DESCRIPTION I noticed when exploring the config values on Wikidata the config value mw.config.get( 'wbEntity' ) On large items this is horrendously wasteful and will slow down client side rendering/page load time. Germany for instance the HTML has a page size of 2.9MB which is unacceptably big (removing the config property drops the page size down to 2MB). I am sure this data can be sent to the client in better ways. I doubt many of the values are used by anything and some would be better as data attributes on the HTML itself. Grepping the code base nothing seems to be currently using it (but I assume some gadgets might be)/ I'd thus recommend killing its use asap. Even wikipedia links only to the List of ISO639-1 list and the List of wikipedias For a list of interlanguage codes, see List of ISO 639-1 codes and meta:List of Wikipedias. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Interlanguage_links Both these lists are not really suitable for us (beside the fact I'd prefer to have that somewhere on wikidata anyway), because we have less languages then the ISO list and more then there are wikipedias (beside this, it would be really confusing to see the lists of wikipedias http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Complete_list_of_language_wikis_available because there is much more information then needed in this case. hoo gave me the link for the api request for all languages: https://www.wikidata.org/w/api.php?action=querymeta=siteinfosiprop=languages So, I could make a Help:SupportedLanguages page based on this and add the link on the summary of ItemByTitle, This would be static though. Well, I realised, even though a site with all languages codes would be nice to have for other special pages, in this case we would better have a help page with all sitecodes (as enwiki, dewiki etc). Still the same problem, if I'd take the information (in this case) from the database and make such a page, it would be static. Springle added a comment. No smoking gun yet. As discussed a few times on labs-l in order fight abuse and replag we kill things explicitly when: 1. A query runs for more that 28800 seconds 2. One or more queries are about to collectively cause an OOM (rare) 3. A client holds a connection open and **idle** for more than 60 seconds 4. The CATSCAN stuff runs slow writes for more than 300 seconds I wonder if #3 is the culprit here. 60s was chosen because some users leave transactions open for long periods and/or consume many concurrent connections for no good reason. If this is the problem, we can either bump up the time limit or encourage apps to auto-reconnect, use keep-alive, or just close them.
