Actually, a full purge is not needed. The list of language links in the (cached) ParserOutput object needs to be updated. This can be done without re-parsing. I think Thiemo did something similar for Wikibase recently. I can't find the ticket, ask him about it.TASK

The current behaviour is exactly as it was designed, you cant technically merge something that has conflicts. If you try to merge two items that both an an enwiki sitelink then you are probably doing something wrong and should resolve the conflict before merging.

This is why for we need both cmg (where default is Mong), khk-Mong (where default today is Cyrl) and mvf (where default is Mong). If language can vary on cmg, there are some texts that are classified as cmg and is used (and needed as source) in Wikipedia.TASK

You are wrong. We do not accept macro languages for new purposes. Only when
a code is already in use, we let it ride. Reluctantly. The point of this is
that we do not and do not want to end existing projects.
