Jheald added a comment. So you're saying, in effect, I should think of the strings being stored as a great big hash table rather than a B-tree, so there's nothing there that can help even STRSTARTS. And of course I know very little about the internals of BlazeGraph, whereas you've actually written modules for it. But I did think BlazeGraph uses B+ trees, which do specifically facilitate rapid in-order traversal and retrieval. Smalyshev added a comment. I suspect QS might be triggering it since I've had other instances of the same problem with QS edits. However, it's not QS' fault here as I see it, it's the combination of recentchanges preferred way being to fetch by time coupled with complete unreliability of its timeline. The way to fix it now is to edit the entry again or to manually update the entries (I can do it if you give me the list of IDs). The only thing I can think of from the user side that was perhaps slightly different about this set of edits was they were made with QuickStatements while I already had a different QuickStatements run open and going in another window (a big batch of 10,000 corrections in capitalization of item labels, which took about two and a half hours to run, all of which went through fine). So conceivably could that have perhaps delayed some handshake in the writing of the coordinates statements? Looks like something weird is going on with recentchanges stream. Looking at the relevant fragment:

We can see that the entry for Q26272025 has rcid 498001280, which means it was inserted much later than Q29002776 entries, even though the timestamp is the same. Looking at this:

it appears it has been inserted full 13 seconds later than its timestamp suggests. WDQS updater currently uses backoff time of 10 seconds, which explains how it missed the update - by the time it was processing rcstream for that time period, the record for Q26272025 did not exist yet, and by the time it was backpatched in, the updater was too far ahead to check back at this time window.
The problem here is that the only real way of reading recentchanges stream for now is by timestamp. And turns out entries can be backpatched into it basically without time limit, and making too wide window makes it impossible to work for the updater, since it can only load maximum of 500 entries apiece.

I believe it should be GeoData, or whatever code actually puts this into Cirrus. Also, fulltext search is essentially broken for Wikidata, we are only now starting to add code to make it useful. If extreme globe coordinates cause items to go missing from the cirrus index, the problem pretty much has to be in Wikibase, perhaps in our integration with the GeoData extension. Items with extreme coordinates like the one shown above are obviously not indexed at all. I guess there is some code somewhere that fails with an error, which makes #cirrussearch skip the Item entirely. We are also backporting this fix right now, which means it will go live much sooner than the regular deployment. I cannot reproduce this. It got fixed when I got the the memcached setup up and running. The test script in function of readTestValue returned null for any value (because the caching setup wasn't working properly) and it failed. Note that it doesn't failover to DB cache because we explicitly make "wfMemcKey". I think this needs to be fixed by making the test script refuse to run when there is no memcached setup is defined but this is a matter test script and not related to the dispatching/coordinator The timeout must never be so short that the lock would be released even though the dispatch is still running. One minute seems too low. Any number that works for you is okay for me. I set it one minute so I didn't have to wait when it errors out but even two hours is okay for me in prod. That's a problem indeed. Failing assertions mean data loss/corruption. I'm particularly worried that this seems to fail even for SQL locking for you.
