I have more control over GitHub repos I create than over any of my gerrit repos. Furthermore, in case of GitHub I do not have to worry about plans of migrating to some totally different tool as is the case for Gerrit... so far for stability. @JeroenDeDauw do data values support human-readable diffs? Human readable diffing is a presentation concern, which is not something you want to put in value objects. Blazegraph certainly can load the data just fine, and I don't see why any triple store would not be able to load any arbitrary typed literal. You don't need full GeoSPARQL support for that - in fact, you don't need //any// GeoSPARQL support for it - you just need to be able to load arbitrary typed literals. There is indeed a bit of a problem specifically with Virtuoso 7.1.0 as it seems to be a bit quirky in loading geo data (see e.g. https://github.com/openlink/virtuoso-opensource/issues/360), I'll look into it. TASK DESCRIPTION There exist several fundamental problems with item statements system at Wikidata as well as with categorization system at wiki projects. Broadly speaking, Wikidata statements miss some functionalities of categories, categorization system misses some functionalities of statements, and both systems have some common limits and system problems which can be overcome in similar way. Most of statements are designed as reciprocial (the define relation between two items) but they **don't work really as reciprocial**. Statements are **not able to be chained to threads** - that fact leads to the situation that many used statements are paralelly **redundant**, and the whole system of statements is chaotic, not transparent, unmaintainnable. Categorization system have both these problems splendidly resolved. The edit interface is heavily clumsy and disorganized. Categorization system is very complex, transparent, intuitive and easily maintainnable, However, it don't enable to distinguish a type of relation, which **impedes to extract (filter) purely hyponymic or purely meronymic threads from the structure**, when needed. There are also problems with relations, which are not clearly hierarchic (People should be a subcategory of Anthropology, or Anthropology should be a subcategory of People?). A problem of both these systems is that the connecting elements are not autonomous but are a part of one of the two connected items. In the categorization system, the connection is a part of the lower item page. At wikidata, the relation need to be additionally duplicated (rendered) to the reverse statement in the opposite item. If we will separate the connection elements to **autonomous elements**, we can reach higher universality of both systems, real functional symmetry of relations, and using suitable qualifiers, we can **archive history of the relations** and link it with the history pages of affected items. A qualifier can also limit the relation to a specific project, as well as share identic relation by more projects. Such a transformation would open doors to crystallize a **meta-categorization structure** which can be helpful support for construction, compatibity and mutual influencing of local categorization structures in particular projects. Snaterlicious added a comment. - No proper copy-pasting which is a big disadvantage for things like such. - It is quite natural to type a string that contains value and unit. Two input elements instead of where one would be natural is irritating. Placeholders would ease the situation a bit, but the need to tab between inputs for something that is normally typed in one go is kind of awkward. - Being aware about form/page navigation using the TAB button involves a certain degree of expertise. - Contradicting to natural position of some units, e.g. $10 vs. 10$. In my opinion, it is such disadvantages and awkward interaction that repels potential contributors right from the start. Deciding on implementing an interface exclusively based on an unit selector would support giving such an impression once again by adding to the pile. JeroenDeDauw added a comment. The Python objects I created have no such functionality, but then they are very incomplete to begin with. The PHP ones have a toArray method, so you could do a array_diff between those, though that is a rather crude approach. I suspect it is better to not have diffing functionality in such objects. However if that is what whoever starts working on this want to do, then by all means go ahead, and we can see if any real problems occur. After discussion with @Nicolas_Raoul on meeting of July 1, the strategy decided
to deploy the extension is to first test the extension, on a few test pages on
wikivoyage, then we can go ahead and announce about the same on traveller's
pub, seeking the help of User:Traveller100
https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/User:Traveler100 who has a bot which has done
work with respect to adding {{pagebanner}} on wikivoyage pages. The same bot
can be used to modify the syntax of {{pagebanner|...}} to {{PAGEBANNER:...}} to
suit the extension once it gets a go.

This is probably intended but a bit confusing. - Why are there so many arrows in my screenshot? - In general the style should be similar to what we are planning to do on the desktop (which Phabricator ticket is that?).
