Smalyshev added a comment. Yes, we can't really use same predicate, OWL hates it. URIs and strings are different types in OWL, and predicate is supposed to have only one type. We don't strictly have to follow OWL (we probably already have some iffy things) but we should not do things that are clearly against it. Also, having two things under the same predicate complicates querying as you start to get duplicates and you need to manually filter them and it's both annoying to the user and hurts query performance.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T121274EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: SmalyshevCc: abian, gerritbot, Lydia_Pintscher, Aklapper, daniel, hoo, thiemowmde, JanZerebecki, aude, Liuxinyu970226, Ricordisamoa, Micru, Sannita, MGChecker, Laddo, Smalyshev, Tobi_WMDE_SW, Bugreporter, Lewizho99, Maathavan, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Created] T149335: Decide how to represent quantities with units as RDF literals.
daniel created this task.daniel added projects: MediaWiki-extensions-WikibaseRepository, Wikidata, Story. TASK DESCRIPTIONIt would be really nice if we could indicate the unit of the literal we provide for the "plain" mapping of quantity values. The plain mapping should always be a single resources or literal. So the unit has to be either encoded into the string, or into the literal's type. I think something like "12.7"^^wdu:Q828224 would be a nice representation. BUt we would have to somehow indicate that wdu:Q828224 is a subtype of xsd:decimal. The declaration of that relationship needs to be included in the RDF output, and we would have to make sure that consumers, in particular BlazeGraph, will understand hand treat the "12.7" as a decimal value, not a plain string.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T149335EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: danielCc: Smalyshev, Aklapper, Jc3s5h, daniel, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

hoo added a comment. MY preferred solution would be to introduce a "ConnectionManager" or "ConnectionHandle" interface into core. WikibaseClient has ConsistentReadConnectionManager that would be one possible implementation. Setting the desired db groupcould easily be added to that. This is very similar to my second idea… having it in core (in a widely used manner, with broad consensus) would probably make it a nice solution. I'm not sure the gains outweigh the amount of work needed here, but then again, injecting DB connections, rather than using global functions sounds like a good idea to me in general. One thing that is unclear: What are the benefits of introducing a new class rather than to extend LoadBalancer (which is what we use to "lazy" inject database connections these days).TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T147169EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: hooCc: thiemowmde, Addshore, aaron, Aklapper, Smalyshev, Lydia_Pintscher, jcrespo, aude, daniel, hoo, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

WikibaseClient has ConsistentReadConnectionManager that would be one possible implementation. Setting the desired db groupcould easily be added to that. Relevant code that currently takes a LoadBalancer or a DatabaseBase, or that calls wfGetDB or wfGetLB, would need to be changed to take a ConnectionManager. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T99899: [Story] Allow looking up Entities by external identifiers.
thiemowmde added a comment. Thanks for the merge, @Jarekt. I believe we can do this. Our current plan is to create an inverse index from all "external-id" values to the entity ID they appear in. Note that not even "external-id" values are technically limited to be unique, so this index must consider duplicates. Considering this, I believe we can add all "string" properties to the same index and not run into any problems (as long as all queries on this index always include a specific property ID). This would solve the "Commons category" task. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T147049: determine how to add statements for monthly temperatures (avg/max/min) > 12*3 values
Nikki added a comment. Some more monthly values: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod%C3%A8le:Relev%C3%A9_hydrologique (with an example for average flow rate of a river) https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod%C3%A8le:Relev%C3%A9_mensuel (with an example for average height of water of a river) Both of those look similar to the weather examples in my previous comment and I think what I wrote there would apply for these too. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod%C3%A8le:%C3%89volution_volumes_de_lac (volume of a lake) This one I would probably enter as a "volume" statement with a "point in time" qualifier, similar to what we do for population values. It does seem to share the same UI issues (as the weather examples above) though.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T147049EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: NikkiCc: hoo, Nikki, Lydia_Pintscher, abian, Aklapper, Esc3300, D3r1ck01, Izno, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Mbch331___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs
