I was also trying to make a meta point though: since prior work and statistics exist for commons it will be worth documenting ( on meta?) these numbers and why/how they differ with other numbers community might  have  access to. Hi @Nuria , the numbers I showed above are cumulative sum at the end of each month, while the numbers you talked about are newly uploads for each month. From my query, for Dec 2016, the number of newly uploaded files by bots are 392,566, by users = 392,786. This is closed to what is shown on https://stats.wikimedia.org/wikispecial/EN/TablesWikipediaCOMMONS.htm.

I think the differences came from two sources:
1, I assume the numbers on https://stats.wikimedia.org/wikispecial/EN/TablesWikipediaCOMMONS.htm are computed at the end of each month and files could be deleted afterwards. For the numbers above, I used the image table and only counts the files that are still there on Oct 12, 2017.
2, According to commons bots, not all accounts being operated as bots has a bot flag, so I also include accounts with the keywords "bot_flag" or "bots" (see the query below).

Is the user versus bot percentage overall? I am not sure that is of value to quantify usage as of 2017, right? See timeseries of uploads by bots/users at https://stats.wikimedia.org/wikispecial/EN/TablesWikipediaCOMMONS.htm (scroll down)

Most recent monthly numbers (for December 2016) differ quite a bit from the percentages @chelsyx lists above , they are more like 50/50 so it will be worth checking if the select above can repro those numbers and maybe look at data monthly?

We already do something similar with `displaytitle` and `page_image`. This would trigger a re-rendering of the page even when only the page properties need to be updated. To avoid this, we'd need to be able to distinguish between proper in-content usage, and usage only fro page_props. This would probably require a schema change to `wbc_entity_usage`.

As the mobile version of search shows the description of item + the page title, we should always track the description of page. Even if the page doesn't explicitly access the description with Lua, the mobile version does.

 The issue was raised by @Doc_James as there were cases of vandalism in description - and it is hard to track them.

Currently we use the whole entity to track changes 

Need:
Show changes to wikidata descriptions associated with pages in recentchanges (RC injection), like we do for other changes on wikidata that affect the page. We would also like this kind of "usage" to be visible on action="" like other wikidata usages are - though is is far less critical than the RC injection. 

Problem:
The current concept of "usage" is: //has (potential) impact on the ParserOutput for the page//. This is not true for the "usage" of descriptions by the mobile page, as currently implemented. 
Similarly, we presently assume that when some information that is "used" on a page changes, that page needs to be re-rendered, in addition to mentioning the change in recentchanges, and purging the respective page from CDN. With information that is pulled in by skin layer code, not during parsing, re-rendering is not necessary, but once we make it less coarse we should make should weRC injection and CDN purge is still track the descriptionneeded.

This could be done in a few ways:Solutions:
* Provide extensions a hook to register additional usages which are applied to all pages (of a namespace)There is two ways to tackle this: 
# using a materialized usage in in the `wbc_entity_usage` table, and put the description (or other derived information) into the `page_props` table. This would be done via some hook that was triggered while (or after) parsing page content. MobileFrontend would then thake the description from page_props. We already do something similar with `displaytitle` and `page_image`. This would trigger a re-rendering of the page even when only the page properties need to be updated. This requires a re-interpretation of the S usage aspect: it then means usage of "sitelinks used in the sidebar", no longer "use of any sitelinks". This means that explicit usage (via Lua) of other sitelinks needs to be tracked as O (or X).

Given how widely this is used eg. on commons, this is a total show stopper. CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTION...The value for `recentChangesBatchSize` could perhaps also be increased, though in the light of {rEWBAb00fac476e803cdf650366baf973fa9942a5164f} we should be careful here. A larger batch size may be help or hurt. 

Side note: with {T178806} implemented, it would become more common for jobs to actually hit the batch size. Right now, I believe many (most?) HTMLCacheUpdateJobs that wikibase generates do not hit that limit.

From the Wikidata perspective, the batch size for purge jobs doesn't matter. TASK DESCRIPTIONCurrently, the number of pages purged by a singe HTMLCacheUpdateJob is limited to 20, by the wikiPageUpdaterDbBatchSize setting. The low number was set a few months ago because this setting used to also control the batch size for the expensive RefreshLinksJob, see rOMWCc29fae9270d1: Reduce wikiPageUpdaterDbBatchSize to 20.

However, as per rEWBA8c96687c2e46: Allow batch sizes for different jobs to be defined separately., we no longer apply batching for RefreshLinksJob, and wikiPageUpdaterDbBatchSize  is deprecated in favor of purgeCacheBatchSize and recentChangesBatchSize.

Since we have problems with the a number of HTMLCacheUpdateJob being pushed to the job queue (see e.g. T173710#3699426), we should try to increase the batch size for this job, perhaps to 100 or 200.

The value for recentChangesBatchSize could perhaps also be increased, though in the light of rEWBAb00fac476e80: Quick fix for flooding of the RC table we should be careful here. TASK DESCRIPTIONCurrently, we optimize for the case of a change triggering updates to many pages: we chop the set of pages into badges and push one HTMLCacheUpdateJob for each batch.
However, this does not help with the many changes that only affect a few pages. In that case, each change triggers its own HTMLCacheUpdateJob, even if it's just for a single page.

We could reduce the number of HTMLCacheUpdateJobs posted by collecting pages to be notified over an entire batch of changes, such as the batch contained in a ChangeNotificationJob. This should be done in a way that keeps collecting pages to purge while processing changes, and then chopping that list into badges according to purgeCacheBatchSize. This requires the interaction between (Wiki)PageUpdater and ChangeHandler to be re-engineered.

I restored earlier version of the module code that did not use mw.wikibase.sitelink function. Valerio.bozzolan test can still be tried on the /Sandbox version of the module. See screen shot below. It seems to me that mw.wikibase.getLabelWithLang function worked fine, and only the sitelink come from an item that the call should not know anything about.

TASK DESCRIPTIONCurrently, wikibase clients will trigger a purge of an item's connected page if any sitelink on that item changes. However, that purge is only needed when a sitelink that is actually shown in the page's sidebar is changed. This is the case for all wikis in the same family (inter-language links) and all wikis in the same language ("sister" links) - e.g. German Wikipedia would show English Wikipedia and German Wikivoyage,  but not French Wikivoyage or Italian Wikinews. Ignoring changes to other sitelinks should help reduce the number of page updates triggered by wikibase changes.

Proposed behavior:
In, AffectedPagesFinder::getChangedAspects, when sitelinks are changed, only trigger the SITELINK_USAGE aspect if the sitelink is either in the same family or the same language group as the local wiki.

Consequences:
This requires a re-interpretation of the S usage aspect: it then means usage of "sitelinks used in the sidebar", no longer "use of any sitelinks". Hello!

Now its possible to associate tags with wikidata ids and save that assoc to plugin setup.
As said before, now in plugin setup page there is a list of the tags used in the blog:

As we discussed, I added an ajax modal window that shows the wikidata results of the tag term search:

In that modal window, there is some info about the id, and a link to the wikidata item, if we click on a list elem, the wikidata id will be added to the related input field:

I agree that this would be a useful feature. It is also used on other sites, so having it won't cause confusion.
