TASK DESCRIPTIONFollowing the fix in T164583, there are many confusing options. This should probably have closed options (compatible with constraints?) as it isn't quite clear what to fill there. If you write "noun" it suggest too many non relevant options (such as Noun (Q2445359)). The description is not displayed, which make it even more confusing.

I agree that having separate OWL file would make sense. I am not sure why we would need http://wikiba.se/lexeme# - what will be using it? Predicates probably should still use same wikibase namespace - to avoid confusing people with too many prefixes, of which we have about 9000 anyway. Looking at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WikibaseLexeme/RDF_mapping - we have to define:


wikibase:Lexeme
wikibase:lexicalCategory
wikibase:lemma


The only thing we may want to use http://wikiba.se/lexeme# for is to refer to ontology itself - since owl:Ontology requires some target to attach to. TASK DESCRIPTIONIn Wiktionary, there is one page for each string of characters, which contains all the lexemes spelt the same. E.g. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/orange lists all the lexemes spelt "orange" in various languages.

I think it would be a good idea to have a special page which lists all lexemes with the same spelling (e.g. something like "Special:ListLexemes/orange" which would list all lexemes which have a lemma or form "orange"). This would provide a more Wiktionary-like view of the data and it could also perhaps be used with Cognate to link Wiktionary pages to Wikidata and vice versa. That would make it easier for Wiktionary users to navigate to Wikidata, and if we link to the special page from the individual lexemes, also easier for Wikidata users to navigate to Wiktionary.

It would be different from a search because it would return things in a consistent order (by language then by part of speech, most likely), wouldn't be paginated and would return fewer results. It's not language dependend. It's for all scripts that use the default latin script so it seems. Just tested with Chinese: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Lexeme:L1?uselang=zh-hans and icelandic (is). They give problems too. I suppose the big question is if this counts the number of statements on the lexeme or on the lexeme, all its forms, and all its senses… I guess it should count all the statements on the page, including forms and senses. Ideally we should have : label, language code and lexical category. For instance « gwez (br, noun, L62) » for Lexeme:L62 (or any other presentation and order as long as the informations are here).
This is important because the same lemma often exist in multiple languages and even inside one language, the same lemma can have different category. For instance, "best" in English could be an adjective, an adverb, a noun, and a verb, so at least 4 lexemes, if I understand correctly).
