  In general, I suspect the language of the match is the Wikimedia language 
code of the language item, not the language code of the lemma matched. You can 
also see this when searching for “colour” 

 – the match language is `en` (or, for the Middle English version 
, `und`) rather than `en-gb` (or 
`mis`).

  I think this is also affecting real Wikidata (though I’m not completely sure 
it’s the same issue). Searching for “das” with language code `ku` (Kurdish) 
returns L221811  and L221957 
, but with language code `und` 
instead of `ku`. This might be because the language item used for the lexemes 
is Kurmanji , not Kurdish languages 
 – only the latter has a Wikimedia 
language code statement. (The difference between the two still isn’t quite 
clear to me – perhaps we should have used the more general item after all. This 
was discussed (in German) here 
.)

  For the new store, we are saving terms in a deferred update. This makes 
uniqueness checks:
  a) if done during request, they might not catch possible collisions with 
values that are in deferred updates at the moment but haven't been written to 
db yet.
  b) if done as part of the deferred update, they don't have the chance to 
report back collisions to the user.
  
  Our options are:
  
  1. live with (a) and believe that those race conditions are rare. Pretty bad 
as it introduces uniqueness-breaches defying the whole purpose of those checks.
  2. live with (b) and believe that those race conditions are rare. This is 
pretty bad too, as it won't report collisions with already persisted terms.
  3. do both (a) and (b) .. extra load, can solve both issues with (a) and (b) 
alone, except for when a collision is going to happen between current edit and 
some deferred update. In that case, we only avoid breaking uniqueness but the 
user won't know.
  4. move saving terms to the request, instead of doing it in a deferred 
update. not sure how bad that is yet. can we tell already how longs those 
queries are taking already (from some db stats)? or will we need to setup a 
separate monitoring to know that?
  5. During request A, we store hashed fingerprint in suitable cache, and then 
deferred update A would remove it when finished. That way, request B can check 
during request both db and cache (with its hashed fingerprint). Probably the 
best option of both worlds, but need your opinions.
  6. Store hashed fingerprints in a separate table that is used only for 
uniqueness checks. extra storage, but is it going to be too much extra? if hash 
size is 512 bits then we would need ( 512 bits for hash + 64 bits for entity 
id) * 70m ~= 5GB which sounds a lot.
  7. ... any other options you see?

  This workarounded the issue for debug mode, but not non-debug mode. Under 
non-debug mode, under Firefox 70.0, the monkey patch has been applied when the 
DOM is rebuilt, but the call stack of the DOM manipulation just does not have 
our patched method wrapper. I ran out of time to figure out why that is 
happening, probably needs testing with vagrant if I continue with this.

  Okay, I tested and in all of cases, we rethrow exception which I don't we 
should catch them in the first place, the stack trace will show up anyway, but 
that's not a big deal.

  After T223792  allowed lua access 
to Structured data, so now we do have categories which compare data stored as 
Structured data and in wikitext, one of them is 
c:Category:Artworks_with_mismatching_structured_data_P6243_property 
.
 The system works fine, except that if information in Structured data is 
corrected, in such a way that the page should disappear from the category, that 
edit does not trigger the page refresh the way edits to wikitext of the same 
file does. Null edit to the page is needed to fix the issue.

solutions for this.
  
  We concluded that the current approach of storing the edit summary as a 
single translatable message with a list of arguments in the `comment_text` 
field of the Comment table 
 is not going to scale 
well. The summaries we want to generate are becoming increasingly elaborate and 
dynamic, and can no longer be represented as single messages with arguments. We 
already changed related stories (T224013#5598017 
) for this reason and are 
going to run into similar (and more!) issues for T224015 
. One additional problem is the 480 
character limit (mentioned in T224014#5562933 
) for the comment text, 
which in the worst case isn't even enough to store two labels.
  
  A more future-proof solution would be to dynamically generate the edit 
summary from the diff resulting from the edit, i.e. instead of storing a fixed 
edit summary in the database, build it from the diff via `FormatAutocomments`. 
This would work for the current task of term edit summaries, and also pave the 
way to have better edit summaries for edits on other entity parts (statements, 
lexeme fields, ...).
  
  If we want to store the diff in the `comment` table, we could likely use the 
`comment_data` 
 field which 
exists for the purpose of holding "structured data that is intended to be used 
to provide localized versions of automatically-generated comments" which sounds 
promising. One major challenge we see for this is that the aforementioned 
`FormatAutocomments` hook does not (in all cases!?) contain the `comment_data`. 
See uses of `Linker::formatComment` 

 which runs the hook.

  Well, we’ve certainly had issues with this constraint before, such as:
  
  - T214856: Commons link constraint does not support Data: namespace (tabular

  As far as I can tell, it’s currently ill-defined: it’s unclear whether the 
namespace  parameter means “the 
value must include this namespace, and a page with that title must exist” or “a 
page with this title (no namespace) and the namespace from the parameter must 
exist”. The “geographic shape” and “tabular data” data types require the former 
interpretation, I believe (since the “Data:” or namespace is part of the 
value), whereas “Commons Creator page” and also “Commons category” require the 
latter.
  
  It’s notable that “Commons category” doesn’t suffer from this bug, though. I 
think this is because it’s not specially handled in this method of 
`CommonsLinkChecker`:

  This function used to be necessary because we used to parse the value using a 
`TitleParser` for Wikidata (i. e. one that was not configured to know about 
Commons’ custom namespaces) and then look up the resulting namespace number and 
database key in Commons’ database. However, nowadays (specifically, after the 
fixes to the above tasks, I think), we no longer do that, and in fact the only 
caller of this method immediately throws the namespace part of the return value

  So the “Category” namespace works because it falls through to the `default` 
case, where the prefix becomes `"Category:"` instead of `""` and so the Commons 
API (called through the `PageNameNormalizer`) sees the correct title.
  
  I suppose we could fix this issue by hard-coding in `CommonsLinkChecker` that 
namespace parameters of “Creator”, “Category”, etc.(?) mean a corresponding 
prefix should be added to the title before sending it to the 
`PageNameNormalizer`, whereas a namespace parameter of “Data” (and any others?) 
should include no prefix (because it’s expected to be part of the value). 
That’s not nice at all, but at least it’s a relatively simple solution that 
doesn’t require any changes to the existing data in Wikidata.

  This hack generally doesn't seem to work now. I think something has changed 
in the SDC code that means that the hook no longer works. I'm not sure if that 
can be fixed within the gadget, or if it requires a tweak to the SDC HTML. 
Perhaps @Jdforrester-WMF or @Abit could have a look?

  This item has the property P1472  
Commons creator page https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P1472 linking to 
the correct page. However, the constraint Commons link constraint 
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P1472#P1472$51803ECB-1D7F-46CD-B21C-E66E2C5F076F
 doesn't recognise the link and displays the message "Commons link should 
exist."
